Per Mike Decourcy
AN's actions (not talking to Coach./AD) is incredibly inappropriate. Heard on sports radio this am.

I, 83msu, was so happy when AN signed with Memphis. I loved watching him play and thought he was a person of character. But to ask for a transfer this late date, torpedo the program, coaches, and fans (who loved him) and refuse to discuss even with his teammates shows a side I didn't think existed. Yes, he has a right to transfer, that is not the issue..its what he has done and hasn't done. This is going to blow up what might have been a nice year.

He needs to man up and at least talk to his teammates, coaches and/or athletic director as he is the captain of the team. Just sending a email asking for a release isn't sufficient

So, is he still the Captain?

Captain Cook, Captain Crunch, Captain Kangaroo, "That's CAPTAIN to you, you scum", U-Boat Commander?, Johnny Depp,or Professor Rape?

I don't think it's the correct way for Nichols to operate, but still, if he wants to leave, they should let him leave.

This "need to talk to him" narrative sounds real petty.

Lets stop with all of the blame. If a guy wants to leave he should have every right a coach has.

Inappropriate how? He obviously has made a decision and plans to go elsewhere. Why does he need to discuss with his ex-coach?

They are just butt hurt that they don't get a shot at talking him out of it. It would be better to spend this time trying to find someone from whatever scraps are left.

Pretty much - everything is just smoke and mirrors for the fact that they want to fullcourt press AN into returning.

I can't say I blame them, but trying to paint him in a bad light by intimating that not meeting with schools officials is poor form is well, poor form on their part.

I doubt that. More likely the young man is emotionally mixed up and didn't think clearly before acting. Such mistakes are made by everyone, especially young people. I wish he would not leave, but I thank him sincerely for being a Tiger and wish him the best. I also feel for Coach Pastner - the timing of Austin's move made a crushing blow all the worse.

Maybe he's a Tigers fan. This is bittersweet, but if it gets CJP out of here sooner rather than later, then it will help the program.

Nobody said that he doesn't have a right to leave. I'm sure that he will be granted that right to leave but to just send a email and don't talk to anyone is poor judgment. It's not about blaming him or taking sides

B.S. man. Him leaving that way is just wrong. Now, not releasing him, yea we can discuss the merits of that, because that is wrong as well.

Still, A.N. should talk to the coaches/teammates and tell his dad to step aside.
