Bayou sissies.

LSU had a home and home with VT lol

I wonder if VT would have played for a National Championship back in '07 if they had not schedule LSU.....hmmmmmm

LSU schedules top name opponents...they played Oregon back in '11

Yeah, that was meant to be tongue-in-cheek.

BTW, VT beat LSU at home [2002], but got drilled in Baton Rouge [2007].

RE: FSU vs. Alabama
LSU bought out a series with NC State for 2017 and 2020. They signed a deal with Syracuse and then wanted us to change our 2017 date without really guaranteeing a return in 2020. There is not a lot of upside to playing NC State home and home for most P-5's. If you want to show up in NC, you can play WF, Duke, UNC, or ECU. If you want an almost guaranteed win, you schedule WF. If you want media hype, you schedule UNC. If you schedule NC State, you risk a loss to a team that might turn around later in the year and lose to WF. If you lose to Clemson, FSU or VT you will not take a media, pollster beating. As soon as we look at scheduling a second P-5 quality school, the ACC starts talking about going to 9 games. Going to 9 games is what caused the 14 and 15 years to be so bad as we had a contract with Oklahoma State and they dropped us when the B12 went to p conference games.

Looks like FSU may be looking to WVU for a 2018 opener.

Quote:Florida State will open with high-profile, neutral-site games two years in a row, including facing Mississippi in Orlando to open the 2016 season. Fisher said the Seminoles are working on a similar game in 2018 and hopes they can reach an agreement with West Virginia, the school that is located 40 miles north of where Fisher grew up and one in which he followed as a kid.

Any big-time games like Bama and WVU are good. Miami is playing LSU to start 2018* in Arlington.

RE: FSU vs. Alabama
Not sure if all of these are still in play or not, but if they are West Virginia's future OOC schedule is bordering on insane.

2016 - vs. Mizzou and BYU at FedEX Field
2017 - VT at FedEX Field, vs ECU
2018 - Tenn at Charlotte, @ NC State, now possibly FSU?
2019 - @ Mizzou, vs NC State
2020 - vs Maryland, @ ECU
2021 - @ Maryland, vs VT
2022 - @VT
2023 - @PSU
2024 - vs PSU

Cheers,
Neil

How is that insane? ECU, UMD and NCSU are meh. Granted, 2018 with FSU confirmed would be a tough slate. But if they already have Tennessee at a neutral site, I question why they'd possibly play another with FSU.

They won't. They'll wait until 11 months before kickoff then buy you out. You'll end up playing Savannah State again...

Considering they play in the B12 with Texas, OU, Baylor, and TCU those are all tough OOC outs. Outside of the Noles, no ACC team plays as tough a schedule.

You aren't seeing a lot of South Carolina State, Presbyterian, Elon, Middle Tennessee State, Troy, Wofford, Furman, Liberty, Citadel, etc. 03-wink

Cheers,
Neil

Exactly. I wouldnt trust schools like Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina or WVU ever again. There have been problems in the past.

So FSU is going to have Florida, Notre Dame AND West Virginia in 2018? Really good OOC schedule if true.

Wish teams would play home and home series with FSU. It seems to never happen. Boise State did it in 21/22 I believe but that isn't a marque one. Would be nice to get a big home and home one for 19/20....

I wonder if one of the Pac-12 teams would do a home and home? Probably not USC or Stanford, but maybe UCLA, California, or Oregon?

RE: FSU vs. Alabama
I live in Ohio and Ohio State somehow gets them like crazy. Have Va Tech now. Have Oregon and Oklahoma coming up. I just dont get why teams avoid FSU with home and homes. It is always neutral site games it seems.

The Boise State years are 19/20 and not 21/22. Notre Dame is on the schedule for 2021 it seems.

So home and homes with premier programs in 19/20 and in 22/23 would be nice... They have at least 2 good OOC games setup in the other years. I dont consider Boise State a 2nd marque program in 19/20.

I can't imagine they can't home and homes if that's the desire. Probably a combination of a few things.

1. Florida State wants specific opponents who prefer neutral site games. This seems popular among SEC teams in particular.
2. Neutral site games work fine any year with the schedule pretty much, while the games vs. Florida/Notre Dame complicate scheduling away games.
3. Florida State doesn't hate the idea of neutral site games itself.

For Ohio State, they've never agreed to a neutral site game as far as I'm aware and haven't contacted any opponents who are looking for one. Most these long term series have been scheduled well in advance as well (several better than a decade).

True. The SEC teams seem allergic to home and home series (especially with FSU). Heck most of them avoid FSU all together!

RE: FSU vs. Alabama
You have to look at it from LSU's perspective - their conference schedule is a minefield without a single guaranteed win. The Klan schools and Arkansas are supposed to be their in conference rent-a-wins. Well, State and Arky pounded LSU last year and it took a goal line INT to stop Ole Miss. Meanwhile, they play UF every year (for all the FSU fans complaining) and the other east opponent this year is South Carolina on the road. Spurrier won't make it easy for them.

Meanwhile, FSU's schedule = LOL

Basically a guaranteed playoff berth as long as they don't shite the bed against Clemson.

Quit your bitchin'

Well Petrino will be in Year 3 with a seasoned QB, so I expect another top 15 team in Louisville as well. So the ACC will only get tougher.05-mafia

Louisville is a good team, but they don't recruit on FSU's level. No one in the ACC does except maybe Clemson. FSU has zero excuses for any losses to teams not named Clemson. Anything else is the equivalent of Alabama losing to Kentucky.

$5 million per team... How does that compare to a top-shelf FSU home game (like Notre Dame last year)?

From the article;

Although the Seminoles will sacrifice a home game by playing Alabama at a neutral site, the program will benefit financially. FSU nets about $2.3 million per home game and expects to spend about $275,000 in expenses for the trip to Atlanta. The difference will be about a $2.5 million windfall for the athletic department … not to mention the attention and focus on a game pairing two of the country’s most traditional and successful programs.
