Action is now underway.

Notre Dame went to the regionals every year from 1999-2006, but this is their first trip back since then.

Back-to-back 2-out, 5th-inning doubles give Cal a 3-1 lead.

That's about the time their coach went to LSU. Who can forget. We played LSU In the loser's bracket of the 2008 CWS and all the announcers could talk about was it was Manieri's wife's birthday.

Indeed not. 0-3. In addition to our loss, fellow 2-seed FAU fell to USF, 5-3, and 4-seed FIU lost to Miami, 6-2.

It's now up to eight 2-seed victories.

In addition to ULaLa's, here are the other #3 seeds that won today (so far):

California, 9-3, over Coastal Carolina
Columbia, 6-3, over ECU
USF, 5-3, over FAU
UVa, 6-1, over Southern Cal
Maryland, 3-1, over Ole Miss
Michigan, 10-5, over Bradley
Indiana, 7-1, over Radford

The only 2-3 game left is UNC-Wilmington v Tulane in rain-delayed Baton Rouge. The Seahawks are currently riding the Green Wave, 2-0 ... and have two on with no outs in B4.

RE: Non-Rice NCAA Regional Games
Mercer lost to Florida State, 5-4, in B10 when the Seminoles hit a single, sac bunt/E2, a second sac bunt and a game-ending RBI single.

Mercer outhit FSU, 12-9 ... but gave up 7 walks (to 1 for FSU) and committed 5 errors (to 2 for FSU). All FSU runs were earned, however: 4 on 4 hits, a walk and HBP in B2, then the game winner in B10.
