No it will not be.
Are you counting on the players that remain on football scholarships at UAB? Not very realistic.
What would I be counting on the players that remain on scholarship for? And why would it not be realistic if I was doing that?
I don't know how many players remain, but I would think that in the coming year there will be more losses to graduation or players that simply run out of eligibility.

They were a short-term powerhouse when they fell, not like a Texas at all.
They came back to the SWC. It broke up about 6 years after they came back.
UAB's road back will not be as tough but the precedent is not good. Good luck to y'all, both in being reinstated and in rebuilding.
It will be tough but mark my words...
If UAB football is reinstated, the Blazers WILL BE one of the cornerstones of CUSA football going forward. The story of this last year has really shined a bright light on UAB athletics (the NCAA tourney appearance as well), and Coach Clark will have a much bigger springboard in recruits living rooms, imo.
This will be a better program.
I really think CUSA will feel some great effects due to this.
RE: Breaking News - UAB Football, Bowling, and Rifle
From an outsiders perspective if the three sports are reconstituted at UAB there will be both positive and negatives for Blazers football. Yes, there will be a rebuilding period of bringing in new young players who will need to go through the normal learning and growth curve. Some of the positives however, are very encouraging. I'll point these out, but in no way give Watts and the UABOT any credit, as these will be unintended consequences of their actions. The community and fan base is reinnvigorated and no doubt feels a more intense sense of ownership of the football program than previously existed. There will be more national notoriety for a revived football program at UAB as it will be a true "feel good" story. Coach Clark, through his determination and loyalty, is a very admirable figure for many, including recruits and their parents. There will also be a strong pitch available to recruits that they can be part of the revival of the program; they will hold a special place in UAB football history.

There are several items that will need to be address regarding current UAB players on scholarship at the university. That said, it's not going to be a complete rebuild. There are pieces in place that will give UAB a good base to start upon as in a coach and many players from last year team still on campus. We will not be starting from scratch.
That's an okay article. For those thirsty for any kind of information regarding UAB situation it quenches the thrist. And besides that, all that story does is poise more questions about UAB return to FBS. Some of those questions are already answered (i.e. who will coach and will CUSA hold UAB's spot).

Most if not all of your skill players are gone...USM had a foundation after Fedora and Johnson got through with them. But for Monken it is/was a complete rebuild. For Marshall after the last 3 years of Bob Pruett not paying attention to recruiting and Mark Snyder not ever being a HC and not having connections in 2009 it was a complete rebuild for Doc Holliday. If you all don't think this will be a complete rebuild then you are fooling yourself.

If UAT is scared to death and they let UAB reinstate football, Im not to confident in that yet. But if they do what's going to stop them from letting Clark go and find another Watson Brown, Neil Callaway or Garrick McGee clone.
I guess what Im saying is if UAT allows UAB to keep football, UAB still can't control their own fate and UAT can still set them back anyway they want, when ever they want. Until UAB is free from UAT then this will always loom over their heads.
RE: Breaking News - UAB Football, Bowling, and Rifle
It's a setback, sure. UAB is probably going to take some lumps in '16. It can't be helped. I believe Bill Clark has a plan though, and we're going to be better, quicker than many think.

No you're fooling yourself. But lets agree to disagree. If the program is reinstated, we'll get to see how it all shakes out.
RE: Breaking News - UAB Football, Bowling, and Rifle
The money…have people promised or is it committed and signed for? What's to keep fans from promising an amount and not paying or even Auburn fans to "commit" then not give a cent.
Also, with the players being gone, would the fans really commit to what could be a decade of rebuilding to bring it back? And with the BOT still controlling their program, nothing would have changed other than a huge setback.

I know you said it over and over that the NCAA will or might let players return without sitting out a year...
NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Why would the NCAA hurts a handful of schools that took those players in just to make it easier for UAB? Makes no sense for them to punish USA who took in around 8 players that counts on their scholarship limit...a 1/3 of a class .
If a player stayed it was for one of the following reasons..
1. close to a degree
2. couldn't get a another school to take them
3. a girl
So UAB might have 25 bodies but they most likely wont be players you build around...or plays much or at all on a full team.

Actually I haven't said that over and over again. What I have said over and over again is this isn't going to be a complete rebuild. We're not starting from scratch.

Just curious, does anyone know what the NCAA ruling will be about the return? Does UAB have to follow the rules that Charlotte by having to play FCS independent, then FBS transition, the FBS? If so, that right off the bat limits the number of scholarship players the first year. Is it even possible for UAB to comeback to FBS in 2015 by the NCAA rules? Or will waivers be needed?
