bowling and rifle brings in no revenue at all but I'm sure both combine eats up 100s of thousand a year. Drop them. But football is a different story it brings in money to offset cost. So if a cut had to be made you cut the non-revenue sports and then see how much money is needed.

Good Luck...no news today will be good new.

Oddly enough, the Bowling team showed a $75,000 profit in 2013-14. Mainly due to the fact that 100% of equipment, uniforms, travel etc were covered by donations from bowling centric corporatations. The only expense not covered were the ladies actual scholarship costs according to a member of the program.

Bowling is just about the single cheapest Title IX helper out there. Costs are low for scholarships and equipment and bowling centers want your teams. AState started with a part-time coach and paid nothing for its training facility and recently moved the team 15 miles to another bowling center that made an even better offer.

The only sport competitive with it on being cheap to operate is triathalon. When you host a meet you open it up to the public and they can pay to compete as well.

That is exactly what they are waiting on.

This is extraordinary news! So proud of the #FreeUAB movement for not giving up. It is encouraging to see grassroots efforts still work!

It is just a bloody shame that Watts was able to disband your players and program and cause what will now be a complete rebuild. UAB had momentum coming out of 2014. What Watts did actually COST UAB with the PR fees, buy outs, scholarship commitments, etc, etc. Someone should be held accountable.

You are starting over essentially on recruiting. It will take a few years to get back to the talent level you had in 2014. You are definitely in good position with coach. But getting back to a full roster of players with a level class balance will take time.

SMU has never gotten back. But they had a two year hiatus, so maybe it won't be as bad for UAB.

SMU also fell off a much higher cliff. They were an SWC powerhouse, and then they were a startup with no conference.

They were a short-term powerhouse when they fell, not like a Texas at all.

They came back to the SWC. It broke up about 6 years after they came back.

UAB's road back will not be as tough but the precedent is not good. Good luck to y'all, both in being reinstated and in rebuilding.

It will be a complete rebuild as far as players. All of your starters either graduated or transferred.

Just because one can see the silver lining doesn't mean he fails to see the dark cloud.

I stand corrected. Here's a difference between UAB and Smoo.

Smoo deserved what happened to them.

It won't be. You will see.

In the words of Watts.

You don't know what you don't know.
