We were ranked #3 in the country coming into this season. Given that we lost an All-American ace, our closer, and 2 starting position players, we've under performed that ranking, but we still won the regular season title, still landed a regional, and were still ranked in the top 20 for the majority of the year. We have won 90 games in the last 2 seasons. We won the AAC tournament last year. We went into The Box where LSU went 38-2 on the season, and went 2-1 against them to win a regional. 1 of those losses in that 38-2 was to UL-Lafayette, so that means we won more games @LSU in a weekend than the entire SEC (hands down the #1 baseball conference) did in a year.
Are ECU and UH's teams as they stand today pretty much equals? Yeah, but as a program, with everything we've done over the past couple years (and mind you, we return practically everyone from this year's team -- I think we have 5 seniors, and only 2 are regular contributors), I would put UH ahead of ECU.
With that said, Godwin is a beast and I expect ECU to be right there with UH (as well as Tulane, USF, and UCF) for the years to come. Basically, we've just got a 1 year head start on you, but you're closing fast.
ECU'S program is light years ahead of Houston. Houston has only 7 regional appearances since 2000
8, actually, but what an arbitrary way to look at it. I can do the same, ECU has only made 1 in the past 3 years.
I give ECU all the credit in the world, and still have "dude, bro" pissing contest-type responses. There's no talking to some of you.
ECU has made 12. Including quite a few in the 80's and 90's.
The last three years isn't a program. Espicially in a situation like ECU's.
When you complain about strikes and balls while you're losing 6-1 you don't have ground to talk about pissing contests
(Mind you we have 2 seniors)
I can appreciate ECU's storied history, but bringing up the 80's and 90's when discussing what the commentators meant when comparing ECU to Houston is such a reach. Irregardless, 90 wins, 29 straight weeks in the top 25, and 2 titles over the last 2 years speaks for itself.
I questioned one pitch in a 3-1 game, that they showed a replay of and both commentators agreed was a strike, then later in the thread said ECU had outplayed us that day and in the grand scheme of things, that pitch was ultimately irrelevant.
You're just going to keep spinning things, so whatever. Like I said, there's no talking to some of you. Good luck in your regional.

I don't have much on him there, Wolves can probably play Stoke to a better game than 6-1.
