I've heard conflicting information about the story being repetitive and underwhelming, but the visuals are pretty friggin great even if they aren't "updated" in the way many would seem to like. The shadow effects in that game are some of the best I've ever seen. Still probably waiting for it to hit the bargain bin before I buy.

The PS4 has a native zoom-in feature for the vision impaired which I've been using to read tutorials, documents, quest descriptions, dialog options, inventory descriptions, etc. But it's kinda tedious stopping to zoom and then pan over to the text every time you need to read something

It's been 4 months and I just finished the main story of Witcher 3. What a fantastic game! Full of complex characters and stories with unclear morality that makes you think hard about your choices. HoS and BaW expansions up next!

The font is still too small, but I memorized most of the menus well enough that reading became less important. Still I hope CDPR has bigger font for Cyberpunk 2077, which looks amazing from the E3 trailer.

I've also been playing Super Mario Galaxy 2 with my 5 y/o daughter. She prefers for me to clear out the enemies and then she likes to take over and explore the level. It's been really fun and challenging. We just got all 120 stars and getting ready to try to find all the green stars

If you liked that in the base game, you'll love Hearts of Stone...arguably one of the best storylines in DLC video game history, and the Blood and Wine map is gorgeous.

You were right, I loved Hearts of Stone! Every part of it from the intro with the cursed frog to the finale in O'Dimm's mirror world and each of the 3 wish quests in the middle brought a fun and unique experience. The characters O'Dimm, Shani, and the von Everecs were wonderfully written. Some of the best DLC I've ever played.

I was looking forward to exploring a brand new region with Blood and Wine, but I think I'm burnt out on the Witcher. Touissant is very well designed but I just can't get into it. I think I'm going to take a break for a while and play something totally different like DOOM

What gaming stories aren't repetitive? To some degree?

The graphics have really sucked me along with just travelling and exploring the world. The 8 different stories are going to lead you to the entire master plot and it seems everyone in your party has a skin in the game at some level.

I think the main criticism I've seen is that you effectively play the exact same dungeons and bosses over and over again just with different skins, and there is no real combined payoff at the end. The Kotaku review goes the deepest into that, but many have said roughly the same in one way or another.

I'm too early in to say about a end game payoff. I've found the stories interesting that each character has to work out for their own life so to speak but they all seem to be centered around a grande master plot by someone doing something in this world.

Playstation store is having a flash sale from today until Monday, lots of stuff is 60-70% off. I just picked up 3 games for $20 that I've had my eye on for a while: Life is Strange, Resident Evil 4, and Batman: Arkham Knight

TLOU2 trailer got me hyped to replay the first one, this time the Remastered version in HDR on the Pro. So good, probably my favorite game of all time.

TLOU2 needs a release date already. Come on!

NIIIICE...that's in line with most of Naughty Dog's releases, so it makes sense. Glad it didn't get out of Q1

RE: OT: The Official Video Game Discussion Thread
Well, with a tip from amiibo news I now have Smash Bros Ultimate AND the full release wave of amiibos sealed and open locked down for PreOrder. *IF* I can double dip at BBY release day I might return my Target PO ones but the fact all three were up at one time means less stress for me come December.

**************

As far as my continued play of Octopath Traveller.....

I've completed all the C2s for every character and starting my first C3 with Tressa in the same spot/town I did my last C2 with Olberick.

The graphics, the music, and the characters stories really resonate with me. The only really weak stories at this time to me are Tressa and Alfin's. I think I am going to level grind and boost up some levels for health capacity reasons to beat Tressa's C3 boss. He sucks off a lot of energy and ....I might also chang up my party to beat him too. Kind of trying to level up relatively even amongst everyone aside from my main, Haanit.

Looks like they're doing the Mario Kart 8: Deluxe method for stages (reusing old assets instead of designing new ones), though the morphing option does seem interesting. Like the few new characters they've added in as fighters too...still just seems like a Smash Bros WiiU.5

I think they have some good new stages and with all the new fighters....

I do think we have more NEW stages incoming though....

But to include all the stuff they have in one spot....

It's been so long since I've enjoyed a FPS, DOOM 2016 was a return to form for the genre. We finally got a look at DOOM Eternal gameplay at QuakeCon, and....

It's everything you want from a sequel. A ton of new styles of demons, gameplay upgrades (dodging, visible damage on big enemies, more demon infighting, the chain and crazy parkour, new guns, more environments, expanded lore), but then they added in major changes like player invasions (think Dark Souls, but you get to invade as a demon). Id is doing the regular PvP multiplayer in-house this time as well. They also announce that they'll be doing singleplayer expansions, as well.

Anyone else play Elite Dangerous? I've been using a Saitek X52 Pro HOTAS setup and it's pretty awesome. I've probably sunk 40 hours into ED the past couple weeks.
