Exactly. Excuse us real fans who have been sticking together through the bad years and "cheerleading" when others left. Excuse us for being excited now that we are on the precipice of greatness again.

No. Wait. You know what. Don't excuse us. Excuse you Mullet. Always coming in here and raining on our parade. This parade is going off rain or shine baby. The Hawks are back!!!!

RE: 2015 - 2016 Basketball Schedule
I agree that there's a great deal to be excited about for UNCW basketball now! And, all of us that pulled for the team when we went through a terrible downfall should be commended. Keatts is for real. There's really nothing more to write about Coach Keatts. He's a winner. He got a TREMENDOUS PG in year 1. I absolutely love Jordan Talley's game! He's the perfect PG for this team and may be the important player on the team. He directs the offense well and plays awesome defense and is a clutch performer. He finishes games very well and is a competitor that makes his teammates even better. Keatts went out and got several guys that can play well in this system and has them oriented to play all out in this system. Some made some freshmen mistakes but you could see how they will fit in and it looked good overall. Good times ahead and I fully expect them to play well even without a tremendous player like Haywood for the first semester. Thankfully, he should be back for the Georgetown game and in state rival games.

The schedule wasn't as good as I hoped so Jonesing has a valid point here. Yes, a point could be made that this is a young team, so you build them up some. However, this club obviously is very talented, regardless of youth and should be able to play with pretty much any team including Georgetown. It could have been a situation where opposing coaches knew the deal and were a bit afraid, but our Hawks haven't proven anything yet other than decimating Bahamian teams. My feeling is that they will be good especially later on this year and you better get your popcorn ready come late December because this is something that UNCW hasn't had in a while...direction, fire, depth and talent. It's now just a matter of when they gel and mature as a team and as college players.

Keatts still can improve the roster by adding another athletic big or 2, but I'm not even questioning him. He's in control and I trust his judgement. He knows hoops and understands the dynamic. Go Hawks!!

Half of it, yeah. At least we got teams like UConn, Memphis, Cincy, Temple, SMU etc home and home the other half to balance it out for us since Lebo is a OOC scheduling wimp. For you guys though there is no excuse not to schedule better OOC in the CAA. You need to get your value in the OOC if you are going to make any mark.

I think our D2 days are finally over for good as well now that the AAC told our administration to cut that crap. So that's one thing that has changed at least. Bass must have learned well around here because it looks like he picked up right where we left off with the Milligan's and Coker's. Milligan is the worst team I have ever seen BTW out of all the non D1 crap we played and I've seen a ton.

Having watched some of the most god awful Lebo OOC's around here the last few years and heard all the build their confidence crap some our our fans argued for it. That's counter intuitive. Our teams usually weren't prepared even for CUSA when we got there and started a couple years off like 1-6 or slow in CUSA before finally catching up and finishing strong. It's a waste. Certainly not like beating the Milligan's and what ever crappy D1 we brought in ever helped us even when we had talented enough teams to actually be doing stuff and that deserved more. You've not even given your guys a chance this year.

You can dress that pig up however you want, but your basketball team is still a pig. Don't act like basketball is what got you in the door in that conference, it's your football team. Yes, I'm giving your football team credit.

In terms of doing more with less UNCW outshines ECU completely.

Congrats on that conference schedule though. The only reason those teams do home and home games with you is because it's mandatory. Let us know when you put together a winning team and we'll talk.

It's a one bid league man. That doesn't matter. They wouldn't have a chance even if we played your schedule. Our league is still recuperating from the departure of ODU, GMU and VCU. We have no expectations of a possible at-large, so right now it's not a handicap. We just need to get back to consistently winning the league like we have before and we'll be fine.

Sad thing is this Pig is one of the prettiest in the parade on your schedule

Quote:Don't act like basketball is what got you in the door in that conference, it's your football team. Yes, I'm giving your football team credit.

Ah, that's just about every conference move. Football drives the bus in case you didn't realize it.

Quote:In terms of doing more with less UNCW outshines ECU completely.

Where. You just had like your first sub 200+ season in like 7 years or something and I think it was barely top 150. Hardly think it's time to get cocky. Even Lebo has had a couple top 100's more recently than that.

Quote:Congrats on that conference schedule though. The only reason those teams do home and home games with you is because it's mandatory.

Ok. What's your point.

Quote:Let us know when you put together a winning team and we'll talk.

Let me know when you actually crack the top 100 this decade. Good luck even getting there with that schedule.

Sure it does. Winthrop played in the Big South under Greg Marshall for years and still had top 50 RPI's because they actually played an OOC.

Forget all the TV and recruiting angles, that certainly would matter come seeding time too if you got the autobid. Do you want to be JMU and get a 16 seed where zero teams have ever won or the 15 where just a handful do, or perhaps get to 12 or 13 and give yourself a realistic chance?

Quote: They wouldn't have a chance even if we played your schedule.

Really so you think with teams like UConn, Temple, Memphis, SMU, Tulsa, Cincy, home and home you have no chance? We play Cal and San Deigo State as well. I'm not going to disagree our OOC is pathetic but gezz your's actually makes ours look good. You could actually have a decent team and your players deserved better than that OOC knowing the CAA is weak.

Quote:Our league is still recuperating from the departure of ODU, GMU and VCU. We have no expectations of a possible at-large,

or apparently getting higher than a 15 seed.

Quote:We just need to get back to consistently winning the league like we have before and we'll be fine.

Winning that league will do nothing for you. Even if you consistently get the autobid and a 15 or 16 seed if you don't even try OOC or beat anyone decent.

Hopefully this will not be a long term trend. Coach has a lot of new comers and also wanted to do a lot of home games to make up last years brutal schedule where we didnt get a true home game with students until January

RE: 2015 - 2016 Basketball Schedule
Here's UNCW's NCAA seedings:

2000 #15
2002 #13
2003 #11
2006 #9.

If Keatts sticks around for a bit, there's no reason that UNCW couldn't be top 100 again pretty soon-I would hope that Keatts could pull that off because it's been done here many times before. The lack of conference strength does hurt though because a loss to a bad team or 2 would be a killer like last year. Still, if your truly good, it will show and you won't lose to bad teams. And, if your marginal you'll lose to a few bad teams and get exposed. It's just fun to have an exciting team again that looks to be headed in the right direction! It doesn't happen overnight though.

RE: 2015 - 2016 Basketball Schedule
I'm not ready to declare the CAA as a one bid conference yet. With so many teams near the top last year, there were a lot of good but not great records on the books.
Because of this, we should have some teams start the year with decent RPI's. And, you just never know who may step it up with some nice upsets before the season starts.

As always we are dragging ass on the schedule release. We play you in case you didn't know, been watching to see when and curious to see if this Haywood guy would be playing. Don't want any excuses.

The CAA was a much different quality of conference back then as well as your OOC.

I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but our women's team has a game at Duke this year. Kudos to them.

Also noticed that our women's team does not play ECU or Campbell. I thought we played them in everything. odd.

I think your team this year will be very competitive.. but really.. what is up with you OOC.. Are you playing only D2/D3 schools besides GeorgeTown? The other D 1 schools I had to look up if they actually existed.. haha
