RE: 2015 - 2016 Basketball Schedule
Besides drexel your school had the most turnover. Shouldn't you want some of those cupcakes to get ready for the CAA to build confidence? Also watch the dragons be a sleeper team this year!

4 of the guys were here last year sitting out their transfer year. They spent the better part of the season dominating our starters in practice. We'll be fine.
Definitely not sleeping on you guys. You were picked to be a top team last year and a lot of bad luck turned things sour for you. You'll be back with a vengeance.

RE: 2015 - 2016 Basketball Schedule
Our non conference schedule is incredibly weak this year imo. 2 non d1 games is a waste. Im expecting a 20 win year with this lineup

Doesn't matter that much. We're still a one bid league. When we are back to being a two bid league we can be all salty about those non D1 match ups.

I think it all depends on just how strong E. Kentucky, W. Michigan and Radford will be. Along with ETSU.

I've been waiting 5 years for them to play at Radford! Who is coming up for that one?

Very weak but not unexpected.Georgetown is a good club-maybe a top 20.No reason to go crazy with it because it all boils down to the tournament for the CAA teams to make the NCAA.

Might make that one myself. In fact, there are several that I will give a look at going to.

RE: 2015 - 2016 Basketball Schedule
I don't know how much we can complain about the non-conference schedule these days. No one wants to come to Trask at this point, it's a no-win situation for quality opponents. And we also don't want to sell out and have too many "buy games" either. Makes scheduling very difficult. I think Coach Keatts did a good job with what he could.

They can make games but not against guarantee wins at home.Very easy excuse to make but it just is not true.I think they should play all comers if they really want to advance the program and make it something special but I do understand the rationale in regards to making the NCAA.If you get beat up and lose games it is hard to be ready at tourney time.So maybe sacrifice the long term for the present?UNCW has had one decent season and that makes them scary at home?

Yep, it does. We were # 1 in attendance in the CAA by a wide margin. Granted, that was with VCU, ODU and GMU all gone, but the significant increase in attendance is proof positive that Trask is "back". The hype train will carry over to next year's team in a big way.
Not to mention, Pitino wasn't just paying lip service when he said after last year's Louisville game that we'd be dangerous this season. Even he was aware of the transfers and recruits we'd brought in. Hence why Louisville isn't playing us on their floor at the Minardi Classic.

At least four of those non- conference teams won 20 or more games last year. It's all about what they have returning.

RE: 2015 - 2016 Basketball Schedule
My biggest beef is the 2 non D1 games.
They are useless and do nothing but pad the coach's win total.
We already have to go to Louisville and play the 2 neutral court games against WAC schools. These games are not very beneficial, but I understand wanting to maintain a good relationship with Louisville so they are bearable.
Why not take a buy game against an ACC or SEC school for one of them and then do another home and home with a school like Eastern Kentucky, a solid mid major.
Im not expecting Wake or any Power conference school to come here every year or any year for that matter, but if we want to gain respect, we cannot have 2 non D1's on our schedule. I want this program to be in a position for an at large. That likely won't happen this year, but we need to get in the habit of scheduling like we want to be in the conversation.
Mullett is right, buy games do not mean you will lose, they mean you will get paid. They are an opportunity. I think we are all very excited to see how we do against Georgetown. There is a balance for sure when scheduling them, but for a program on our level why not get paid to take a shot above your weight class???
This year's schedule is very disapointing. Next year we will have 5 games to play with, assuming ECU, ETSU and Radford are home games next year and EKU, W Michigan, and Campbell are away. I hope we do not waste them.

RE: 2015 - 2016 Basketball Schedule
Fall semester ends on December 12th, the same day as the Georgetown game. Does that mean that could be Haywood's first game or would it be ECU?

Pitino could care less about UNCW is my take on it.I also don't think UNCW is scaring anybody on any court just quite yet.Don't forget they did lose to Campbell just last season and could easily lose to another team like them this year.Trask is not BACK yet-give it at least two years in a row as a winner and then start cheerleading.
I thought they could win in the CAA last year and I was right.I think they win again this year but I have been wrong plenty. It is not the CAA of old for sure but it is still a decent little basketball league for a lower level D1.

Waiting to cheerlead is for bandwagon fans. But, I do agree we have more to prove. The bandwagon fans are already coming back. All but a small group of seats have been taken downstairs. There are now those who are disgruntled because they waited too long to get seats that they wanted.
