Hard work doesn't make you rich. There are plenty of lazy people who get rich by shear luck and there are plenty of hard working people that never become rich.
There are plenty of people who get rich by working hard.
There are also a lot of people who think they work hard who really don't.

I'm sure there is.
How many people in this country however are rich because they were born rich and how many are rich because they worked hard?
I'm sure even you would agree that the vast majority of hard workers never get rich.

Ah, there was a difference in what I intended and what you saw. I meant "had read", as in I meant that I did not think that he subconsciously plagiarized Ayn Rand. I agree that it would be good if he were to read them, but I think it's a bit late for that kind of personal development now.

I assume you were asking about The Fountainhead.
The Fountainhead - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It provided an appropriate vehicle to concretize her beliefs that the individual is of supreme value, the "fountainhead" of creativity, and that selfishness, properly understood as ethical egoism, is a virtue.

The character of Roark was at least partly inspired by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright

That's not the one I was thinking about.
She wrote a different book about the crushing weight of government driving a man underground because he came up with something.
That was always my favorite of her books.

Hard work itself is no guarantee of productivity, either. It takes innovation, production, and value in addition to dedication and hard work in order to really become rich. Someone who is actually rich could probably add more insight here, though...

Because it takes much more than hard work. You have to truly want to make a lot of money. You need to be smarter than everyone else. You need to have ideas.
No, not everyone is equal. Some people are smarter than others. When you realize this, you'll begin to understand the concept of achievement.

Clearly there are no guarantees that hard work will make you rich, just as there are very guarantees of much of anything.
But one thing I WILL guarantee- sitting around waiting for "your" government check that has been taken from someone else that IS working hard, that is a 100% guarantee that will never make you rich.
What a pathetic existence that must be.

That statement means you have an inherent misunderstanding of the concept.

Anthem should be a mandatory read before graduating High School. It's short, easy to read (at least in comparison to her other works), and the concepts of collectivism and individuality need to be better understood by young people as they start college and plot the rest of their lives.

I'd imagine one led to the the other. At some point, it just become petty to complain about it.
