TV cameras face the double decked sidelines or the single deck club side?

Two questions:
1) I know it's been brought up before, but is there any purpose to the giant JMU logo wall? Is something being housed in that space? Did I miss that in the video?
2) Student seating. The FAQ has this nugget: "The students are a critical part of the gameday experience. We are exploring different options for lower bowl seating to further engage our students in order to enhance their positive impact on the game." I would love to see them take the bottom 4 or 5 rows all (or at least most of) the way around the court and give it to the students. Having them all centralized is AWESOME, but it'd be great to give them access to more seats surrounding the court.

Seriously. This is amazing work. Can't even explain how excited I am right now.

I love the look of it, it fits in well with that side of campus. Can easily walk to E-hall or Sheetz. The little retention pond and fountain are a nice touch. They took away about 1/3-1/2 of the parking lot across from Festival, but they're replacing it with a huge deck, which is sorely needed. When I was there it was already insane to get a parking spot over there and they've added a dorm, library, dining hall, and academic building since then. Not sure what else to say other than I need to make more money so I can give to this project.

My understanding is that the area where the purple logo is available for an expansion of either suites or another 1,000 seats.

Something you have to do if you stick students in the first few rows on the sides is the elevate the normal seats behind it so students can stand. Slick move that they did at UVA.

If JMU ever leaves the CAA, I'll buy you and 'Deez drinks in the new basketball arena, I'll gladly pick up that check.

"They just can't spend it fast enough..."

"When in Rome do as the Romans do. A new colosseum for the elite of Harrisonburg, perhaps I can get free bread."

"Didn't they JUST refurbish the Convo Center? And didn't the City just buy into financing a Convention Center with JMU, so why would JMU be pushing the idea of having a "trade show" in this new Convocation Center?"

Love the video and the plans. Very nice. Excellent that the facility would be on campus (although that term certainly is "broader" geographically than when I graduated nearly 25 years ago). It will be interesting to see what they do traffic-wise, though; it would seem to me that University Blvd. should expand to 4 lanes if we're going this route.

On campus now and I can't walk 20 feet without hearing a convo 😀 about the new arena, students are definitely paying attention.

They aren't paying a dime. They really should just STFU.

New Convocation Center plans released
What does the release of this video tell us about how near they are to actually breaking ground? I see no scheduled opening date, and they've already been talking this up for a while.

RE: New Convocation Center plans released
maybe they are doing student seating behind both baskets? there would be no reason to pan to the other side and repeat the highlight of student seating, based on how this was produced.

very slick, $12m pledged / $3m given and they'll start digging.

You're gonna count fake game film (from two courts ago) in the horrifyingly-nice film room? Seems pretty absurd.
