Nick Rogers is #13 on ESPN Indiana top 20 for 2015.

Any word on when his verbal will become a signed letter of intent?

We just need to put the best guys on the floor. If someone isn't good enough to play, then they should not be on the roster (unless of course they are injured). We need guys with the right attitude. The swagger on this year's team did not win games. Hustle and solid defense are much more vital than swagger.

If this in coming freshman can play, let them. They still will have 4 yrs. So, if the next class is small, so what. I like a big bench, this something we have not had in yrs. If they can play, bring everyone of them in.
You do not Redshirt guys to balance classes you do it develop guys who can maybe be alot better in the fifth year then the first year Knapke will be the only one to redshirt in this class. I myself like to try and bring in 2 guys at least every year but Coach K can run a program so I woiuld defer to him.

RE: New Basketball Commit
knapke has huge upside, imo. anderson looks like he has a little more of an old man game - knows angles, has moves, touch. hard to read his physicality in the highlight reels because of the competition. easy to look tough swatting a 5-10 guard and dunking on a 6-2 center. knapke is taller, faster, thinner, less polished but has a feel for the game. the kid also has a nice shot with a lot of range. a rs year would give him the chance to get his strength up and adjust to the comp. anderson has the oak hill experience of practicing for over a yr with the top hs players in the country. actually, i think adway starts. he can come right in and protect the rim a bit. will rebound some and gives us an athletic big who can run. don't know if he will add much offense right away, but the scout is that his solid ball skills and decent shot is what makes him a more interesting kid than the "average" 6-9 guy who can run and dunk and swat a few shots. notice that coach k was very intentional in loading up on big men who can shoot.

at guard, i think rogers and mosley are the pgs. if rogers is really good, mosley still plays a lot but rotates between pg and sg. really, lots of teams now use 2 or 3 guys at the same time that have some pg skills. sanford is in that group. he plays more pg on the aau circuit, but was a scoring wing guard on his nationally ranked hs team. the kid can drain the 3, so i'd expect him to get minutes. the fun thing will be to see the rest of his game. his background is in full court trapping run and gun play and he is 6-3 and athletic (but also very skinny). white almost certainly plays some next year. very physical aggressive type of big guard in the jordan lauf mold, but better off the dribble.

RE: New Basketball Commit
Several people have said they aren't worried about balancing classes, but will that change in a few years if we graduate six or seven seniors?

RE: New Basketball Commit
There seems to be an assumption that balancing the classes is so very important. The reality is that under Coach K at Toledo there has been 1 player that has played for him for four years (Mr. Juice Brown). Next year there will be two with the addition of Mr. Nathan Boothe. In this day and age guys come and go if they are not happy with their situation. All 13 guys cannot be satisfied with their playing time. Therefore, it is best to put the best team possible on the floor each year. The attirition and class balancing occurs on its own.

RE: New Basketball Commit
It appears that Coach K is still wanting to sign one more player. Offer was made to former Rutgers commit Austin Burnette. He is a 6 foot 6 SF.

Austin Burnette is a flying under the radar but the kid can play.

Coack K knows he needs a mid size wing and this kid is a lanky 6:05 or 6:06 so he fits that roll which is a roll that needs filling on the team in the next two years. Kurt Hall is our only real wing unless we consider Lauf who is a bit of a "tweener".

no idea on brunette, his videos are old - looks like he's playing against jr high kids-haven't seen any recruiting analysis. did have offers from rutgers and charlotte but rutgers also offered the ephemeral quadree smith (who UT and half the nation seem to have offered and has still never signed anywhere).

I see some good players being recruited. When are they going to bring in the next level player. I want them to recruit against higher mid majors, take the program to the next level. I'm tired of hearing about how to compete in the MAC. How are they going to compete on a national level?

You win the MAC tournament and win a couple games in the NCAA, then you'll be competing at the next level. But, you have to win the MAC tournament first, even with a load of 4 star recruits losing the tournament there's no for sure at large bid from the MAC. I think coach K is doing a fine job so far in recruiting, last years problems weren't talent, more chemistry and excepting roles.

You can't compete with the big conferences when you can't even win the MAC. This is the case with both basketball and football. At least basketball has division championships in the last 11 years.

Sounds good. Ohio University did just that-won the MAC, went to the Elite Eight and became a mid-major power like Kent before them. Oh, wait....no they didn't. Both tanked in subsequent years. We'll still be asking this question long after we win the MAC tournament again. Move up to a better conference and you'll get better players. Here we just hope for a Kent or OU type season every now and then.

Coach K is doing a good job with the program. It takes a while to comeback from the damage that was done by the knucklehead players and Coach Cross. Moss would have put UT over the top this season, just some bad luck that sent him to UB.I believe this recruiting class will go to the Big Dance. The pieces all seem to be there.

He's done a great job cleaning up the mess from the end of the Joplin era and everything from Cross' time, but they need to take the next step before competing with big time programs. The next step is actually winning the MAC.
