RE: MLB 2015 season thread
Will get into my predictions later. Wanted to talk about Rendon. He's going for a third opinion on his knee, which sounds bad to me. Granted being a Thunder fan has made me extremely cynical when it comes to injuries. Same with Pagan, Scutaro, Cain, etc. Whenever I hear third opinion I immediately think surgery. These teams lie through their collective teeth and I no longer believe a player will be fine until I see him on the field/court.

I heard the name James Andrews in association with him. Anytime you see that name in association with an injury, you know it's bad....

oh man that's even worse than I thought, figured I was just being paranoid. My favorite is that the headline calls it a sprain. I hate when teams do that, cuz it's so misleading. Fans see it and think he'll be back in a few weeks. Hell, KD just had some soreness, which apparently was expected and wasn't a big deal. A few weeks later he's out for 4-6 months (which we all know really means 6 months, not 4).
Just saw Joe Panik had a minor ankle twist and was scratched from today's game. They say it's simply being overly cautious. Maybe it's me, but I read that and immediately think DL.

I don't anticipate seeing Rendon play until August if at all this season. The Nats already have a horrid case of the injury bug. My predictions:
NL East: Marlins
NL Central: Cards
NL West: Dodgers
WC: Nats and Pirates (No Giants as it's an odd year)
LCS: Cardinals over Dodgers
AL East: Orioles
AL Central: Indians
AL West: Angels
WC: Tigers and Red Sox
LCS: Orioles over Angels
WS: Cardinals over Orioles in an ornathologists wet dream.

RE: MLB 2015 season thread
so it's been Cards/Dodgers unanimous so far, with the Nats getting 2 division and 1 WC nod so far. Pirates a unanimous Wild Card team. Marlins 2 playoff spots, Padres 1 playoff spot...
In the AL-
O's- 2 division 1 WC
Angels- 1 division 2 WC
Mariners- 2 division
White Sox/Royals/Indians- 1 division each
Red Sox- 1 division 1 WC
Tigers- 2 WC
Safe to say the AL Central the division most up in the air right now.

RE: MLB 2015 season thread
I think something to watch this year will be the Angels with Josh Hamilton.
He avoided suspension on his relapse- just was announced today...
Then the Angels team president said this:
In response to OF Josh Hamilton not being suspended for his drug and alcohol relapse, team president John Carpino said: "It defies logic that Josh's reported behavior is not a violation of his current program."
seems pretty obvious the Angels were trying to get out of having to pay him some of his insane contract....

yeah they're the only ones who are pissed here. Can't really blame them for feeling this way. They gave him a ton of money to play baseball and not only did he suck, but he completely violated their trust. Yeah they're idiots for giving him a stupid contract, but come on, all he had to do was not do coke. Not too much to ask. I realize he's an addict and needs help, but they have a right to be upset

It's just amazing to see a team president saying something like that. That'd be like the Yankees last year if ARod had gotten his appeal and the Yanks come out and say something about that.
I really never remember a team president saying something like that ever quite frankly!

Earvin Santana (Twins) suspended 80 games for taking a banned substance. Doesn't really change anything as Minnesota was not going to be competing for a playoff spot.

no thoughts really. They've been the driving force behind 3 championships. A more deserved extension you won't find

So Uggla officially made the Nats. Some thought that he's going to start tomorrow. Just an amazing story.

RE: MLB 2015 season thread
just don't think you can say it's a shocker. With what the Braves are right now- they had to get rid of Kimbrel. The fact they were able to get Upton gone as well is a big plus....

True. I didn't think they would trade Kimbrel now before the season. I thought it would be more towards the trade deadline in July.

I think probably with Upton going along with Kimbrel it was a no brainer for the Braves.

man, so weird to see Heyward with the Cardinals.
Going to be tough for Braves fans this year with Ex-Braves littered all over MLB.
