I was thinking of talking the wife into going to this game, but I have decided against it. I have not been to any of the games in the current home winning streak, and I could not stand it if they lost when (because) I was there. Like they say, it's only dumb if it doesn't work, and I am not going to be the one to jinx this Monarch team. Be loud for me, and I will watch from home.
I always wear my old Bazemore jersey, which happens to be white. Perfect for a white out haha, and as I've posted a few times on this site I think the Ted looks great during a white out. I'm indifferent though, as long as we win I could care less if we wore white, blue, silver, or green (although I hope we wouldn't lol), but a white out would still look cool, especially on TV.
Here's a post on youtube from the ODU/VCU game in 2010, where we won the CAA regular season title and would go on to beat Notre Dame in the first round of the NCAAs. (God I miss this year haha) The white out looks great

GO MONARCHS!
Well again I really am not a believer that who is in the crowd, or anything else in the stands, serves as either a jinks or for that matter good luck (except in our own mind) so I would say take a chance and come on down. If you are really worried you could always pretend you are for ILL State but I don't think it is necessary. This game is a bad nightmare for us as a match-up, as the first meeting showed, so we either step up or ...... In any case a big crowd cheering ODU on might help the boys at the right moment and that is a good thing so again I say come one come all. Finally, if you do come and Freeman points to you in the crowd and yells "Oh no" before missing his final shot and we lose by one I will PM you my address and you can come to my house and run me over with your car a few times to make up for it. Again, all this is just one old coach's (football not basketball) opinion. Go ODU, Defend Our House!

Can't do this. My lucky sweatshirt is navy. We've never lost when I've been at a game and had it on. Of course, we haven't lost at home, since before I got it, but that's irrelevant. I even got brave and wore it to a LM game once and they won, too. It's only weird if it doesn't work!
Agree with Lucky Lion....my lucky ODU shirt this year is slate blue. I have to admit it was a bit my fault that we lost in B'ham. The shirt is long sleeved and heavier material and it tended to be warm in the arena. I di wear my lucky earrings and replaced the shirt with ODU socks. Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa! I wore the shirt Thursday and it worked so no way I'm not wearing it Monday!
I mean let's be real guys, regardless of what color we wear, if we haven't learned to play against the zone, which from all previous games it looks like we haven't, then we're doomed. Every team that has put us up against the zone has given us problems and we've looked like the same clueless team each time. Hopefully JJ spent the majority of the practice time coming up with ways to solve it.

Like omg no I havent!!!..........Yeah I sure do cause I've watched just about every game and we've looked clueless against it. If you think we've executed well against the zones maybe it's you who isn't realizing something...
That was a nice ass whooping we took from them early on huh...
We have won 25 games against more zone than anything else. In the last 6 weeks we have actually looked much better against all kinds of zones, there are different kinds. We will have a difficult time scoring on them if we can't get some transition offense, not because they play a big bad zone, but because, like UAB, MTSU, and UTEP, they are long and physical on the perimeter.

Of course we have faced more zone match ups than other teams. Every opponent we play knows our offense is suspect when facing one (whether it be a 2-3, 3-2, or 1-3-1) since you don't think I know there are different variations...
Long and physical teams have given us a hard time and combined with a disciplined zone, most the time we have look overwhelmed. I'll keep my thoughts to myself since yours seems to be the only correct assessments though. Not that I'm trying to be a negative Nancy but the others who wanted the MT revenge game, we saw how that worked out.
Illinois St destroyed us with the zone and they've only gotten better. If we are not prepared for it, be prepared for a bigger ass whooping than the 19 pt beat down we took earlier from them.

We'll need to beat them down the floor in transition before they get a chance to set up their zone. Alas, that can't be done on every play and depends on strong defensive rebounding. We need our guards to attack the basket. Question is-- are the brawny enough to do it effectively?

I am sure we will be as prepared for Il. St.'s zone as our personnel will allow. I doubt the coaches are using this weekend to take the team on a field trip to the zoo. We will definitely have to get some points in transition, and a couple of guys are going to have to drop some threes, hopefully early and often.

My point it's that we have more issues with long physical guards than we do against zone. UTEP and UAB were just as problematic in man as they were in zone. Our team has shown, in my opinion, that they know how to attack zones recently, whether or not we can make the shots that we get it's another question. Our biggest problem against physical zones has been that we can't exploit their weakness because nobody can hit a corner jumper (I think I could count on one hand how many we have made all season) and last game not withstanding, none of our bigs can consistently hit a foul line jumper.

Arledge was money with the mid-range jumper last game. Same with his jump hook. We need that again on Monday.
