RE: ***Official Selection Sunday Thread***
SMU 7 seed
Cincinnati 9
Temple 11
Tulsa 2 through 4 seed in the NIT
UConn with a loss today is 1 a seed in the NIT. If UConn wins they will be an 11 seed but I am not sure if they would take Temple's spot.

Other: BYU is going to be in the tournament, their AD is on the committee. The chair of the committee is from the Mountain West, no worries for Boise State or Colorado State outside of traveling to Dayton, LSU's AD is on the committee which equals an at-large bid for the Tigers, C-USA associate commissioner might sneak Old Dominion into the field, Oklahoma's AD is going to fight for both Texas and Oklahoma State but I am not sure he will get both in, Michigan State's AD is going take care of Wisconsin, Michigan State and Maryland but leave behind at least team one out of the field from Purdue, Indiana, and Ohio State, Dayton and Davidson will be seeded much lower than most people have them. Georgia and Ole Miss is going to be a coin flip for one of the last at-large spots, Georgia swept the Rebels and has the better RPI but Ole Miss has the better overall wins.

UConn can't be a 1 seed. They (the 4 NIT top seeds) are now specifically the first four out.

I thought that was a proposal for next year.

Nice to see SMU has beaten Tournament teams, Wyoming and Eastern Washington. And of course Temple and/or UConn and Tulsa if they get in. Lost to Gonzaga away, Arkansas home and Indiana away without Marcus Kennedy. Pretty good resume'. Will we get a 5 seed? We'll see.

I can't see a 5 seed for an SMU team that lacks a win over a team that is a sure fire single digit seed. Wouldn't shock me to see the Mustangs as low as an 8 seed which is were I think SDSU out the Mountain West will be seeded as well.

I'm afraid that if UCONN wins the committee will give them Temple's spot. Maybe that's just me being paranoid after what happened with SMU.

Right now UConn is the 6th team out on Lunardi's list. Wouldn't shock me to see UConn Old Dominion or Miami even with a loss.

Temple has a good RPI, resptectable SOS, and a fine top 50 and top 100 resume. They should be in.

Agree. I was on the committee the Owls would be a 9 or 10 seed. Most of their losses were took place when didn't have full team. Temple has two good non-conference wins Kansas and La Tech and strong RPI and non-conference SOS. I would dump Ohio State, IU, Purdue, Texas, and Oklahoma State before the Owls.

SMU and Cinci are obviously locks. I'm thinkin SMU gets a 6 and Cinci a 10

I think UConn could steal Temple's spot too. But I think one of those two make it as one of the last teams in. I think Temple does deserve to be in, but who knows if the committee will see it.

Tulsa is a lock for the NIT, UConn is too if they lose today. Memphis is on the NIT bubble 03-banghead

RE: ***Official Selection Sunday Thread***
Temple's biggest ostacle is the lack of quality road/neutral site wins. Beating UConn on NYE is the closest thing we have to one. My belief is Temple barely sneaks in and is sent to Dayton.

While I definitely want Temple to be in I won't be devastated if they fail to get in. I simply don't have much confidence in their ability to win a game. A PIG gives them the best chance...

I really believe its 3 in, plus a 4th in Uconn if they make it. I think Lunardi has made too much of Temple being that close to the bubble.

Texas and Ok St both have a sub .500 records in conference. I'm not sure how many teams have made it as at-larges with sub-500 conference records. That used to be a disqualifier of sorts.

The sub.500 conference record went out the window a while ago. Indiana got in with a sub .500 Big 10 record in 1997 iirc. That's when Bob Knight went on his famous selection committee rant following their final regular season win. The Hoosiers lost to Chauncey Billups and Colorado in the first round...

Not according to some on here. They seem to think that round is called the Round of 64. 03-lmfao

I think Temple will make it but I'm nervous as hell. I know Temple is team 2 but who is team 1?
