Interesting to hear the announcers comment [paraphrased], the Wildcats moved up from the Southern Conference. If they were still in that conference, they wouldn't have been in the tourney. After all, the Southern is a one bid conference.
Says a lot about the way the tourney is run. No one knows the good teams they just know that half the conferences will send someone/anyone and they need to focus a bit on the remaining conferences.

RE: Davidson
I have never understood the hate for Belmont and Davidson after they leave our league. They are both have a good coach, smart players at a strong academic university, playing team ball. And they have shown good leadership to be where thry are. They are exactly what i wish ETSU was.
After they leave our league, i have been a fan of both teams unless we have to play them.

Belmont was the hardest one -- came from NAIA years after ETSU became DI, ran past us (helping expose the full BS of the Stanton-Mullins Athletic Model), and kicked our butts too often. Davidson had already had some good success as DI before ETSU's first time in the SoCon, and we saw them as more of a peer in basketball when joining. It's always been hard to see other schools, public and private, come up, go past, and then leave ETSU behind over the last several decades. But, of course, that's reality and the name of the game of college athletics. Hope we're now on the way to emulating some who have moved past us.

RE: Davidson
I've hated Davidson for a long time even when we played them in the Southern conference, they always played dirty. Then when they left the Socon their snotty fans refered to the Socon as "The trailer park of conferences" which gave me an even more reason to hate them. So yeah I was happy to see them get beat down by a 7th seed.

My sentiments exactly.

RE: Davidson
Why in the world would anyone want Wofford to lose. They are representing 'our' conference. The first game payout is worth about about 75k to ETSU. A win in the first NCAA game would be worth another 75k. 150k or more in ETSU's athletic cofers would be great. Also the conferences RPI would in all probability go up.
As far as Davidson's program, I can only hope ETSU's men's basketball program can match what they have accomplished, a long time committed head coach, NIT/NCAA bids year after year, move to a national known, mulitple bid conference (A-10), televised games on a nationwide network (ESPN) and sellout crowds to see nationally ranked teams (Dayton and VCU). Yah, I'll take that kind of program anytime.

I always support the Southern (previously ASun) teams out of conference especially against the high major teams. It can only help in money, seeding, and tv coverage.
As a UT fan, the the rule applies to the SEC except in the case of Kentucky basketball. I pull for anyone to beat them.
