Here’s a thought. Take all the money you spend on the public schools, toss the unions, and switch them to charter schools with real teachers that stress personal responsibility and do not excuse bad behavior.

You already do. They are free at any Health Department. Our local HD hands out over 1000 gift bags per year..12 per bag to anyone that asks for them.

It will never end until the people (parents) - those that live with it, decide to end it.

No amount of programs, schools, etc. will end it until those that are living it decide enough is enough.

The only way it ends is from within.

They might not know that such as exit even exists. But the first thing that I would suggest is that the people who care about their lives and the welfare of their family to do is move. The south side of Chicago is the quintessential example of the theory that 'the worst thing about being poor is living around other poor people.'

So, what makes them different than many public school teachers?

Certification doesn't appear to have any positive affect on the failure rates of most schools throughout the US.

I think that they should just declare Chicago a great big No Gun Zone. That always serves to put an end to violence at schools, shopping malls, movie theaters, etc.
