Smart move by Southern Miss. The likelyhood of a postseason run this year was very slim. Go ahead and take the self imposed ban now so that you can have a chance to play when you improve (which you will).

Was thinking the same thing. The odds are against post season play and self punishment usually work in your favor . The program of USM has to much history to stay down long.

What's up with the players and the coach? I get that the players want to play but it wasn't the coach's fault. Seems like the coach is not liked.

UNC cheated and Southern Miss gets the sanctions...Does not surprise me with sleezeball DT, be glad he gone and was not around long SOuthern Miss fans..He is safe at UT....

Players not practicing is not a good sign....CUSA has really gotten some bad news with UAB football and now this mess....

How does this effect C*USA tournament seeding? Did the bottom teams get not-invited, or does this create a bye?

i believe only top 12 were supposed to be in, so I would assume #13 goes if Southern Miss is in the top 12.

Players did not boycott, coaches just took off Tuesday to let them regroup. More pitiful reporting by ESPN.

NCAA is a joke. This is how they work. All the G5's will probably get penalized for Penn State getting their victories back.

ESPN stinks! errors,omissions,ineptness,etc.They fooled me again.Saw the initial report-then quotes from the coaches show via Jason Munz.


I rarely watch it.Cut the cord long ago.Gives me a more well rounded and different perspective.

AGREED. I follow several of the players on twitter and one of them tweeted to the ESPN person (Jeff Goodman?) that the players did not boycott.
