am certain there is some truth to this.....

I would also be pissed if I was Sadler.....

however, it would now be nice to see him step up in leadership and do his best to pull us out of this mess....

give the guy a few years and let's see what he can do....

ole boy has an opportunity right now.....let's see how she plays out.....

RE: Southern Miss self-imposed MBB postseason ban for THIS year?
This is only going to get more interesting as we go.

I don't want to publicly air the kinds of rumors & rumblings that cause me to feel this way, but just how far up the ladder this scandal may be traced before it's over has scared the hell out of me for a while. The report that our compliance office somehow green-lighted what now has us in trouble just raises my fears even more.

I'm kinda surprised by the part about Sadler being upset because the level of trouble wasn't disclosed to him when he was hired. All along, I kinda assumed the school was upfront about it, and one of the reasons he was hired was because our admin wanted a seasoned coach to lead us through this mess as opposed to hiring a young guy who might not possess the savvy to navigate it. The way that part of the story was written, "the level of this NCAA turbulence was not properly presented to him," insinuates that he was, in fact, told something was going down, but not that it was going to be as bad as it's turning out to be. Could be no one at the time knew just how bad it was going to be.

Then again, all info discussed above came from the same guy who incorrectly said the players mutinied yesterday and whose network has their nose halfway up Tyndall's new conference's large intestine, so maybe it should be taken with a grain of salt anyway.

I do remain VERY concerned by the effect this may have on the arena renovation.

WKU fans could have saved Southern Miss from all of this a long time ago from DT and told you 10 years ago how shady this guy is...The guy has been sleezy for years and now finally landed at a school (UT) that his safe and can get away with all of this...

sometimes it does pay to cheat....

it would be interesting to see congress get involved...

me thinks they call this "fraud"

I'm only little.....

DT, at a minimum, should have to appear in court to face charges....

this is big biz time right now(?), correct?

might be time for a new law or two to judicially hold responsible parties accountable.....

You're right. UT got no punishment at all for the Bruce Pearl incident (sarcasm)

Let me just outline this for you:

1) Tyndall was known to have a checkered past. The school at which he was working when we hired him had been put on a 2-year probation, including a scholarship loss and recruiting limitations.

2) After he got here and proceeded to do whatever it is that now has us in trouble, our compliance department was allegedly either a) mind-bogglingly incompetent or b) in on it.

It begs the question: Was USM wronged by the actions of a renegade coach, or was Tyndall brought here to do exactly what he did?

Pearl was at parties all the time, he didn't exactly hide anything...As long as DT plays his cards right he will not be in trouble at UT and in the SEC where cheating is expected especially at UK..

It has for Tyndall, as he's worked his way up the coaching ladder to $1.6 million per year in Knoxville.

For USM, it's highly doubtful 2 NIT appearances are going to end up worth all this.

I would love to see a school sue the former coach for damages he caused. A big judgement would make the next one think hard before cheating to get his next job then leaving his former team with the fallout

that is correct....

we got stuck with this tab.....

reminds me of our football program years ago.....(you know what I mean)....back then it was almost a non-issue (no p5/g5/internet).....

now the recruits are more knowledgeable and savvy....

we paid for 'that' one.....and we are going to 'pay' for this one.....

thank god 'this' one is hoops......this town is mostly apathetic anyway after 20+ yrs of negligence....

still waiting to hear about the yurt 'upgrade'.....

where is nasty when you need him.....

I think one tried it (don't remember who, I want to say it was someone in the Big Sky?), and the courts threw it out claiming "You have a compliance department don't you?"
