If this was true, then UAB athletics would have died when Memphis, Louisville and Cincinnati left. Playing teams like Rice, Tulane and FIU would have killed UAB athletics.

It's just a new reality. True fans go to see UAB play, not the opponent.

+1

I'm betting we stay in cusa.

IMO, if we hold out the tiniest hope of ever having a athletic program that includes FBS football again it has to be the Sunbelt or C-USA. There are already schools lined up to get in the Sunbelt so they can have FBS. Unfortunately, we no longer have Coach Bartow and all his connections to help us get back in the club. This molesting by the BOT has also left us not near as shiny as we were in the 90's.

IMO, if we want to look ahead in the chess game, our letter writing focus should be to the C-USA presidents. They hold our best key to slipping in the back door. Maybe the Football Foundation guys could represent us to C-USA as the real face of UAB.

I think CUSA gives us a pass for next yr. By this time next year we should know if football will be coming back and CUSA will know what their long term plans are and will act accordingly.
Watts will be gone and Blazers will celebrate his removal each year by having a dumpster fire at a smoke filled back rear entrance.
