Looks like a steal.

From all reports, he needs to hit the weight room. Does he play this coming season or redshirt?

We are a little thin at PG, but I have to think that either Green or Fields redshirts.

There is ZERO chance he redshirts with the only other point guard option being caver.

No, we need him.

Talley, Stith and green should make quite a back court with baker and caver off the bench.

He red shirts...we have Caver, Haynes and Fields. We are fine at PG. Haynes is a load...big strong athletic guard that can play the 1,2,3. Green needs to mature physically.

I don't think Haynes is a point guard and fields is a walk on.

I highly doubt jones redshirts a player of greens quality when we are trying to make the NCAA tourney, especially after tre Evans backed out.

Travis Fields is also a very viable option this season at point guard if he doesn't end up red shirting.

Maybe it is just me, but Im hoping for 0 meaningful walk on minutes next season.

Have you seen Fields play? He's not the typical walk-on. If we go into the season with an open scholly, and Fields is awarded the scholarship, are you ok with him playing then?

If he is better than Green, I have no problem, but call me skeptical. If he was better than Green, he wouldn't be coming to ODU without a scholarship offer.

You have not seen Haynes play. I have many times. The kid is more than capable of handling the PG spot. Fields is a better version on Brandon Johnson. The kid is a player. We are fine at PG. The Only way Green does not redshirt is if Jones thinks he needs to add more scoring from the 2 guard spot.

I will add..Fields needs to prove himself in other ways besides just on the court. The kid has a ton of talents and can compete at the D1 level. Bottom line is he is a winner.

It's just you. Fields is a good player and I would not be surprised if he doesn't end up getting a scholarship this year if we have one unused come October. Also, what if one or both of the Stith brothers are not on scholarship but suited up as a walk on?

So Fields is better than Green? Why did Green get an offer (among others) and Fields didn't? The Stiths have nothing to do with this.

There is no way he redshirts unless Jones wants to ensure he never signs a talent like that again. Besides, you only have the Stiths on the court at the same time for 2 years. You want to take full advantage and not try to get cute .

I live down the street from CNU and see several games every year and see a lot of good, dominant players. Even saw Biberaj there. This doesn't mean they should be starting at ODU. Look, if Fields is some Steph Curry diamond that everyone passed over, obviously you ride that. But are we going to go into the season making that assumption? Not only is it unlikely, but it isn't fair to Fields either.

What does that mean? Discipline trouble?
