Remaining CUSA merge with SBC

Never.
First, the AAC doesn't need to do protective expansion like C-USA did (C-USA didn't really need to either, but they did it anyway).
AAC would likely do 1 of 2 things; either revisit the MWC alliance (considering the C-USA proponents of that are mostly now in the AAC).
Or try to firm up their basketball and seek some non-footballs.
That may involve inviting a couple of C-USA programs like ODU and probably a southern program. UAB would be interesting in that regard, although I get the sense that they really aren't going to take their resources and invest in basketball, but will just let the whole thing deteriorate.

Mountain West has no interest in an alliance but would like to grab one or two Texas schools. AAC could lose 3 - 5 schools in an alignment like this. It would be hard to get good hoops programs to join without Cincy, Memphis, and maybe UCONN.

Cincy and Memphis make far more sense geographically than either one of them and UCONN football is just as bad as Memphis football, probably worse in the long run. The Big XII should have jumped on Louisville when they had the chance.

It's obvious you're not paying attention. 9-3 (7-1), AAC co-champs. Your hate for Memphis has no bounds. Guess your still pizzed about 36-17.

No, I don't. At all.

If Texas was the team possibily losing out on a playoff invite this morning because of no championship game, they would've invited memphis and cincy at 3 AM and had a championship game by sunup today.

I'm perfectly aware of what Memphis is doing this year and UCONN played in the freaking Fiesta bowl less than five years ago. In 2014 Memphis is far better than UCONN obviously, but over the next decade will Memphis be as good or UCONN be as bad? I don't know, but it will take more than one 9-3 season for anyone outside of Memphis to believe Tiger football is a commodity.

I don't hate Memphis, nor am I "pizzed" about anything, but if Memphis or UCONN get a P5 invite it's not going to be for their football anyhow.

I get that point ... and my comments on Texas were far more a reflection on them than on you guys.

But I think they will find a way to work around the CCG game without expanding.

And, in all honestly, I don't think anyone outside of the G5 (outside of MAYBE BYU) will "earn" their slice of the TV revenue pie (e.g. generate enough additional revenue to offset the additional slice of the pie).

Whatever dude. Maybe you ought to be less concerned about UConn and Memphis and just bask in the glory of MTSU reality.

Possible wild card? UAB dropping football could open the door for other G5 programs as well. Impossible as of right now to predict who stays, who goes and what impact this might have on conference alignments. At the least it would give ADs cover to make geographical adjustments to help control costs.

Did I start this thread? How about you get off my sack? I'm sorry that I don't buy into a program that won 12 games over the last five years after one 9-3 season.

Nevermind the fact that I'm one of the few people in this thread saying Memphis to the Big XII makes some sense.

Maybe I'll just bask in MT's 5 recent wins over your juggernaut of a program...

They had interest last time. It was the majority of the C-USA presidents, not the MWC, that pulled the plug.
Regardless, I doubt you see those AAC teams return to a C-USA model that they didn't want in the first place.

I suppose no one clicked on the link. This was a reasonable geographic realignment plan.

I'd love to see the best of the remaining AAC and CUSA form a league, I just don't see it happening.

Didn't expect it, but I actually really like that set up, I think it may need a little work, but I'm on board.

Drop UMASS, add one of Georgia State or Georgia Southern and Ohio and I'm definitely in.

North

UCONN
Temple
Marshsall
Ohio
ODU
ECU
Charlotte

South

WKU
MT
GS/GSU
FAU
FIU
UCF
USF

You're right though, it's definitely not happening, nevermind that it's predicted entirely upon a rumor that's probably not happening.

Big 12 needs schools east of the Mississippi for consideration. Cincinnati and Memphis make sense.

The big 12's hand is going to be forced to expand simply due to being slighted in the playoff picture...tcu dropped from 3 to 6...Osu jumped them with an extra game... Memphis and Cincy make perfect sense

If the B12 and ACC's petition to change championship game requirements is granted, that would render expansion and deluting their conference media contracts unnecessary.

Why would the greedy BAS^%$##*@s in SEC, PAC12, B10 or the "wee little people" of the G-5 ever, ever, ever let the B12 have that kind of a sweet deal? Since they only have 10 teams with whom to divide their ill gotten gains! I can't see any reason that this would occur. B12 needs to have 12 to 14 teams like everybody else and have a bonafide CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!
