New Mexico would be cool with Coach Fran's history there. We were well liked when we played there in 2012. Lots of Lobos came to the hotel to meet Coach Fran and the staff. Our party was next to their reception

If I'm not mistaken, one of our former head coaches is on the New Mexico staff . . (Had to google it, couldn't remember his name and it was driving me crazy- Was Bob DeBesse)
Some good eats in NM as well. 04-cheers

Army is ineligible, That's our slim chance of the AFB vs an AAC team. That's why they kept predicting TXST vs UH.

The conferences rotate, this year it was to be Army vs AAC
That leaves the opponent open for at large selection

Yes but what he is saying is that Big 12 and CUSA back up Army. So if OSU loses to OU then a CUSA team will fill.

Our only shot is a random MWC bowl because they plan to bail on one of theirs and fill the Cactus Bowl instead.

I think C-USA gave up the back up in Armed Forces to get HOD full time. Not certain because there were so many bowl changes for us since last year.

It's extremely confusing to look into. The MWC has 6 bowl tie ins and 7 eligable teams. If Boise St gets the BCS bowl then they fill all bowls. However, they want to send one (Utah St) to Cactus instead as part of a secondary tie in. At least that's how I understand it. I'm sure this would free the Potato Bowl since they are last to pick.

But many commentators think they'll vacate New Orleans instead. That's why you've seen predictions of Pitt and Temple in New Orleans. There is so much behind the scenes dealing.

They want to vacate new orleans bowl because it is not in their geographic region and struggle to travel there. The CUSA has an agreed back up to NOLA bowl.

So if CUSA goes to NOLA and MWC fills all theirs, does that leave Armed Forces as the one and only possible option?

RE: Sun Belt Nation: Operation Get Texas State to a Bowl
Bobcat Illustrated is saying that the Gildan New Mexico Bowl has expressed interest this afternoon in Texas State as a MWC replacement, dependent on what happens with Boise. It would be Texas State v. UTEP. The Armed Forces would be great because it's against Houston. But I'm really intrigued with a UTEP match-up and making that trip to New Mexico (it would not be a bad first bowl game.)

In order for us to go to that, MWC has to send a team to NOLA bowl and they don't want to because of geographic region. If they don't then our bowl chances are over.

Rice is probably one of the main competitors for a AF Bowl spot. If they go to the NO Bowl instead then the main competition becomes Temple (if they win) and Ohio or any other MAC team. I like our chances against either of those teams. This assumes Boise State wins and gains the access bowl.

If a CUSA team takes the New Orleans Bowl spot, that knocks out a P5 team from either the SEC/PAC 12/ACC/ or BIG TEN, depending on how the CFP works out. Regardless of how, if CUSA takes nola, it will be us fighting a p5 school for the armed forces and we won't get it.

I'm just too pissed to even discuss the other games with anyone; so I have stayed away from those threads as much as possible.

Sorry guys it is not looking good. If a B10 team is available, no way AF bowl passes. http://espn.go.com/blog/ncfnation/post/_...t-of-bowls

This reminds me of several fans here, and on bobcatfans.com.

Because of this, I'm going to start calling you crybabies Jolene.

Her stance is HORRIBLE.

This isn't some middle school race where everyone gets a medal. We weren't really good this year. We were OK. 5 teams worse than us in an 11 team league. Very definition of average.

I REALLY want us to go to a bowl game, and I'll be happier than a Georgia Southern fan who finds out his booty call is only his SECOND cousin... But I'm not gonna cry about not getting in when we didn't do enough to warrant it.

So your saying unles we win the Conference or are Co Champs our team dosent deserve a bowl invite. Because we have numerous threads here that are saying it's not about Ws it's about Travel numbers. So as long as there is te team closer to the bowl and we are bot champs we are on the outside looking in.
