Sorry, but I dont think he can run again after this time.. could be wrong, however.

No politician in office in the state of Alabama is going to lift a finger to help us, except for Jack Williams I guess, and it seems he's gone quiet. Oh, and John Rodgers, but this situation has proven he is a doddering, irrelevant old man. "Sources" indeed.

RE: Contact Bentley, We need him to step in
Governor Bentley,

This whole issue with UAB Football is a black eye on our state! Ray Watts is an embarrassment in the way that he destroyed this proud football program. After you publicly stated you would look into this matter, he soon cancelled the program. He never gave donors a chance to raise the money to save the program and he inflated the numbers to make it look impossible. I urge you to look into this issue and see how this man has wrecked so many lives by his short-sighted actions.

The outpouring for UAB Football in the state and nationally has been incredible. All eyes are on Birmingham and Alabama. Here is an opportunity for you to be a hero, the anti-Ray Watts, the guy who cares about the players, coaches, and students at UAB.

Please step in and save this program. Be a hero in the eyes of the nation. You are the Governor! Don't let Ray Watts get away with treating your constituents like this!!

Thank you!

I do not have that he will do anything. He said he would look into it and we have not heard one word from him.

He is part of the plot and the "The Machine".

Maybe he is. He is still the governor though and we still need to call and send e-mails.

The word is that he is having second thoughts. Think about it. He has a golden opportunity to come out like a hero in this thing while the whole nation watches. We are a national story and there are UAB sympathizers everywhere. He can come out looking good if he steps in against the hated, smug tyrant that mis-treated those football players and refused to listen to those college students.

He's also been elected twice and cannot be elected again. You do the math.

Yep, and he can go out with a national reputation of saving the innocent and looking out for the mistreated.

By the way, a friend just told me that Bentley's office is no longer taking individual messages about UAB due to the high volume of calls. They are reporting a number of calls to Bentley periodically during the day!

Because when they answer the phone you tell them you're calling about UAB?

All lines are currently busy. I'd like to think that voice mails are more powerful. When the exasperated secretary gets off the phone to hear "You have 47 messages..." 03-nutkick

No one said don't call?

I think you misunderstood the post about not reporting every call.

Previously, they would individually tell the governor about each and every call that came in. Now, they are still taking the calls, but they are simply telling the governor "X people called in favor of UAB today".

RE: Contact Bentley, We need him to step in
I called at 11:38 this morning (Friday 12/5) and talked to the lady for 5 mins and 48 secs. Asked her to ask Governor to but a stay on Dr. Watt's decision for the following reasons:
1) Appears to be a problem with the study in that it states total athletic department budget deficit as reason to drop football program when it was actually profitable in 2013 and, based on attendance doubling in 2014, should be even more profitable in 2014. Study findings were known months before it was released indicating it was for-ordained to be negative against football program;
2) The fact 1/3 of the members of the UA BOT are employees or spouses of employees of Bryant Bank and Paul Bryant Jr whose hatred of UAB athletics in general and football specifically is well known presents a apparent conflict of interest by the board against UAB athletics and football and is obvious by the lack of support over the years;
3) The statement that $40-50 million dollars would be needed over the next 5 years to get the football program to the level it needs to be should be balanced with the fact that there as been little to no effort to upgrade UAB football facilities for the past 24 years. I told her UAB is in the middle of cUSA in expenses and revenue for football and that it leads in attendance over many other conferences;
4) A five year stay should be announced by Gov. Bentley to allow time for the Jeff Co commission, City of Birmingham, business and individual UAB boosters to meet with Dr. Watts and fund the program over the next five years and build the new on campus stadium immediately. If student body growth, attendance and revenue stream does not improve during the five year period and the program is not in at least the middle of cUSA in attendance and revenue, the program will be dropped and the title to the stadium will be turned over to the City of Birmingham and Jefferson Co. based on investment each provided.
She thanks me for my input and said she would forward the information on to Governor Bentley. (Really!)
