Word has it he was not happy that they did this today. He truly did want to review this. He did not find out about it until noon.

It is worth a shot.

Light Em' up!
I called his office earlier this afternoon. About 5pm eastern.
Bentley is mad. Contact him and get as many people as possible too.
I don't live in Alabama but I told him I was furious about this and would make it my mission to support any and all opposition to him in the next election if he didn't step in on this on the side of UAB football.
E-mail sent. I will call tomorrow.

He's starting his second term so he won't stand for election again, at least not for governor. Hoped that would give him a little more independence but I doubt it. He's paid for by Bryant.

I still called his office and the chief of staff.

He didn't seem too upset:

Governor Robert Bentley released the following statement on Tuesday’s announcement that UAB will be shutting down their football program:

This season of UAB football has been one of the best for Blazer football, and I congratulate Coach [Clark] and his team of coaches, staff and, most importantly, players who have dedicated themselves to UAB. As a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Medicine, I am proud of the impact UAB has on the City of Birmingham and the State of Alabama. The decision to end the football program at UAB is President Watts’ decision, and I respect his authority as UAB President. He has a strong vision for the future of UAB, and I look forward to the great things that await the University in research, academics and athletics.

I emailed him because I wanted hope.
Then I guess that means it's up to the Faculty Senate to vote no confidence on him so that his authority is respected by no one.
Total bull****! This was a setup all the way. When is Watts retiring?
Smh Bentley is a troll too
he may be but we must play this card.
Called this morning and this time the lady tried to read his statement over the phone. I stopped her and asked what changed the Gov's mind from "supporting UAB football" (her words yesterday) and that he was looking into the situation to now letting Watts make the decision. I reminded her he is the head of the BOT as Gov and he should do the right thing. She didn't have any response except for an angry "I'll pass that along."

Bentley is useless.
.....as far as I'm concerned we don't have a Governor or any leadership.
I emailed the Gov.
We need to tell the world about how EVIL the UA Board is and has been towards UAB.

Need to let USA Today, ESPN, Fox Sports, Everyone who will listen the EVIL that we (UAB) faces everyday.
Earlier this year when Alabama State was going through financial problems and there was heat on their trustees, the governor proffered the idea that there should be a forensic audit of Alabama State's finances. The head of the trustees said in his news conference reply if that's the case ALL universities should undergo the same process. That's the last we heard on the subject. Methinks Bentley knows some things, too...
I called and emailed yesterday, prior to the announcement. Got the "I'll pass along your opinion" message from the lady that answered the phone.
Have yet to her a response to my email... And, I'm not really expecting one either.
I'm fully convinced that the Gov Bentley is clueless. If he was mad, it was because he came out looking like a fool for putting his foot in his mouth several times.

1) It's the board's decision, they'll do the right thing, you've got to have fans
2) It's the board's decision, encouraging words of support, remember I'm the chair, looking into it
3) It's purely Dr. Watts's decision, I respect it
