So much for all the blowhard posts from two months ago saying they'd never win another game and calling for the entire staff to immediately be fired and publicly flogged.

I'm sure Billy said we scored too much tonight and that'll hurt us against Temple! 03-lmfao By the way, Billy, how did you lure Rath into your lair of despair? Fancy beer?

The D has switched their scheme which has helped them turn it around, albeit against some pretty inferior offenses. Going to a man coverage has allowed them to put more pressure up front.

I'm pleased with the way they've adapted. They still have 2 tough games left. And of course Temple had a bye this week to prepare. 9-3 is what I was thinking in the beginning of the year. To get back there from 2-3 would be a nice feat.

That would definitely be an impressive bounce back from 2-3. I still wish we had that Memphis game back, but there are very few good teams that win every game they should. Billy, you are about as glass half empty as they come, but you are consistent. That helps keep this board lively.

Outstanding all around effort. Doing what they are supposed to do against this murderer's row of cruddy conference teams.

Can someone please tell me how Tion Green stays at RB last year yet Moore had to waste one of his 2 years of eligibility as a backup CB? Kid is what we hoped he would be now that he is finally back at his true position.

The bottom 5 in this conference at least this season is just the biggest crap sandwich.

I've been asking that all year. Apparently we were so short of CBs, that he was needed there. I don't agree with it either.

Tion has all the measurables-- kid is 6'2 220 lbs and runs like a deer. The issue with him is all upstairs....My guess is the coaches were hoping the light came on.

I don't know, maybe its because Rod had played CB in the past, and as explained to me he had the ability to backpedal and turn his hips which is a specific skill set corners need. Tion could never play cornerback. Some schools did recruit him as a linebacker, but we weren't depleted in the ranks at that position last year. Every program is thin at some positions and have to rob Peter to pay Paul to get by for a while.

Yessir. Makes it difficult to assess where we really stack up. These next two games should give us a little better test.

I'm not so sure...have you seen Temple's offense, because as far as I can see, they're still looking too.

Regardless of who else is healthy next year, I think this team is going to be riding the Boone train for several years.

Tion, has all the measurables? Hell, at 6'2" 225, I look like a heck of a power back on paper. 03-wink My point is there is no way they looked at all of the RBs last year and decided that Moore was so far out of the mix that they could literally waste one of his only 2 years getting about 5 snaps in the secondary. Quickest RB on our roster and it only took everyone ahead of him to get hurt to discover that he and Boone were the best of the bunch.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but you're only stating half the story. Hosey and Ti'on had Mainello at center instead of Bond, who I believe is our best OL both in actual play and in rallying out protections to the others on the line. Having him back has been a big part (not the only part, though) of why Rod and Boone have had success.

I sure hope so. Good they are letting him get some experience this year behind Rod Moore. I like Tion, but dude is a head case.

In practice, some guys look better or worse. Kay couldn't get on the field under 2 different coaches. It happens.

Will Hosey be eligible for medical redshirt? It will be interesting to see who the staff goes with if Boone, Williams and Green are all back. I think Boone is clearly the most dynamic of the bunch. His burst is on a different level. When he took those snaps out of the wildcat. He was to the line of scrimmage before UConn could even react to where he was. I'm very excited about Holloman as well. But if he and Boose can redshirt then I'm all for it.

i don't think Hosey can r/s. Played too much of this season to qualify for one. Who was the kid that went down with an injury a couple of months ago? i think they'll try and R/S all the RBs that they sign in the upcoming class. They only burned Boone's R/S because of injury. i think they like getting players college ready if they can afford it.

Tuberville feels pretty certain Hosey will be back. I think the rule is you can only play 33% of the season and you have to be injured by the 5th game. Hosey went down against Memphis which was the 4th game. Tion will likely get another year as well (meaning he will have two more to play).

Yeah, I think the whole 2 bye weeks to start the year kind of throws everyone off on just how much people played.

Side point, but Ti'on Green was initially an "athlete" and did practice at LB his freshman year. Also, Boone was recruited as RB/WR, so we could see some people moving next year to fill depth and make sure we're not wasting our best athletes.
