Macon at QB, give UT a much more realistic shot at beating BGSU than Woodside or Julian. Given the circumstances, I thought he played exceptionally well.

On the plus side we scored 24 points on the possible west champion with a WR at qb. Doesn't say much for niu.

But on the positive side...a rocket team using its 3rd and 4th string qbs only lost by 3 points to the former bell cow of the mac. As bad as niu is they still could be the team from the west in the mac championship this year.

Macon had an exceptional night under difficult circumstances but he also had the major element of surprise on his side---a serious advantage in his favor----as NIU probably had no idea that he would play and certainly had no film of him to study. You can bet your last dollar that BG will be analyzing the NIU film very carefully and scheming defensive plans specifically designed to slow or shut down Macon's running game. Game planning----it is what good coaching staffs do.

Hate to tell you but there is no positive side to this-----a loss by three points yields the exact same standings and the exact same results as a lost by 40 points. By definition, "moral victories" always end up posted in the LOST column and nobody ever remembers them anyway except maybe a few of the "moral victors" (sic).

No moral victories for this guy. All it tells me is that the rockets are an average team whether they go with their first, second, third, or fourth string qbs and they are only good enough to lose by 3 points to another average team. I'm the one that cashed in early on the football season and while others were making excuses of narrow wins in games I viewed as "moral losses." I obviously want the rockets to win but I've come to be able to accept any outcome pretty much the same...win or lose. Now basketball will be a different story.

We are not average offensively with our first two qbs. Maybe average at worst with our 3rd and 4th guys. Defensively call us what you want. The ending record will define if we are average. Average teams are 5-7, 6-6, or 7-5.

If you go 5-7 in the MAC you're not average, you suck.

Average teams in the Big 5 conferences are average at .500 +\-.100. In the MAC you are average at 12-0 or 11-1. If we are to become a Boise State or a Utah, we need to be consistently the conference champs. Otherwise we should look at D-2.

Just more of the same. Coaching staff can't get it done in the big games.

We trot a qb out there who looked as bad as I can ever remember a UT qb looking since Dan cole.

Takes another injury to go to the guy we probably should have been playing at qb the past 3 years.

Defense can never make the big play, but they sure are clutch at giving up the big play after terrible tacking and pursuit angles. Still can't get off the field on 3rd and 4th down and medium to long.

Punter continues to be terrible 10 games in.
