RE: On The Plus Side
I have to say, after leaving the NIU game, I haven't been as frustrated as a Rocket fan as this year. Spending quite a bit of time and money to see the Rockets in Toledo against Missouri and then in Dekalb, and coming up quite short of expectations, its not been easy as a fan. I will say, I cannot complain with a 5-1 record in the MAC, but my expectations for the season, especially with NIU rebuilding, was a MAC-West title.
I wish I could be in the Glass Bowl next Weds against BGSUX because I know the program needs every Rocket fan there to get us a very crucial W. There is fight in this team, I saw it in both games, just wish the fight would equal wins too.

RE: On The Plus Side
I have found that the best way to enjoy games as a current rocket football fan is to take a shot every time the opponent scores points. Take 2 if the opponent ends each quarter with more points than the rockets and 3 I'd they end the game with more points than the rockets...never walk away from a rockets game unhappy

True NIU is not as good as they have been.

True NIU is not as good as they have been.
I know in past spring games Macon showed some brilliance at QB. And he takes snaps once a week in practice.
So he is and has always been a QB.
He simply is not the starter.
But he is too gifted an athlete to sit on the bench, thus getting him game time at WR and kickoff returner where he can contribute.

Yes! That is exactly how I felt. Very impressed with how the Rockets actually matched up and looked like SEC teams there. You could have put Georgia Bulldogs jerseys on the Rockets players in those games and nobody would have known a difference. The season ended with a loss to Akron. The reason the Rockets lost that game was because Akron was a formidable opponent and Bowden had them on an upward trajectory and would be a team to beat in 2014.
By the way...I felt much better after those two losses (call it a moral victory if you want) than I felt after many of the narrow wins over crappy teams this year. As far as I see it...if simply winning against crappy teams is the goal and what "real" Rocket fans should be happy with then I think we should drop down to D2 or D3 and play Findlay or Mount Union and mop them up.
And I apologize to those real, true diehard Rocket fans that are able to hang in there with all your optimism still for sounding overly negative but I'm honestly not trying to sound like the sky is falling...just stating what I've seen and feel.
