They might not add anyone. Remember they've got too many teams as it is. It is unlikely that it would be Georgia State. I'd be real worried about losing Arkansas State if I'm the Belt.

Hey, they can go add JMU or UMass! Problem solved.

Didn't stAtes AD publicly take a crap on Cusa's porch?

And he signed it From Arkansas State with love. Of course, he's said several times he doesn't make realignment decisions, if he did we wouldn't have Idaho, Georgia Southern and App would have joined much earlier, and NMSU would be all sports.

It will be interesting to see if when Idaho's time is up for review after the 2016 season if the conference decides to drop them and play as a 10 team conference or whether we will be at 12 by then.

If UAB went belly up, would it actually improve CUSA's ranking in the G5 payouts each year?

I believe they would split it one less way but I'm sure the positives of adding a good SBC member outweigh the small savings...

RE: OT Alabama to end UAB football after 2016?
This basically has nothing to do with finances and is pretty much the guise they've been using for years to attack UAB's football program and try to get rid of it. It's all a tired, old joke really. They'll likely try to pull some garbage about what percentage of our total budget is subsidized.

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/s.../finances/

Here's just a few programs that subsidize higher percentage of their athletic budget than UAB does: Georgia State, James Madison, South Alabama, FIU, Kent State, Ball State, Akron, ODU, MTSU, Jacksonville State, VCU, San Jose State, Miami OH, FAU, NIU, Ohio, Troy, Air Force, New Mexico State, East Mich, West Mich, UMASS. Not to mention that nearly every school in the G5 subsidizes 40%+ of their budget.

Here's just a few programs that subsidize in raw numbers more money than UAB does: Rutgers, UNLV, ODU, Houston, Air Force, UMASS, UCF, Georgia State, EMU, Buffalo, FIU, Memphis, Uconn, VCU, and about 30 more FBS schools.

If the Alabama BOT was running all of athletics, none of these schools would have athletic programs. They are amazingly corrupt.

It's ironic how much lsu and alabama hate each other...you would think they would be best buds

Rumors of the end to UAB Football: Troy start calling Clark...
If I was Troy I would be reaching out to Clark feeling his ears with uncertainty. If this has any truth to it I would think Clark is trying to find a way out.

Any attack on a G5 school by P5 should concern everyone. Support UAB.Your school might be next-directly or indirectly.

No. We would be expelled from C-USA the moment football is dropped.

CUSA wouldn't get rid of you, y'all still are great in basketball

CUSA is looking for big markets....JSUs market is no bigger than Troys.

JSU wouldn't even get an invite from the SBC if it was in located Mississippi

Yup. And now all the sudden they got a good coach and are having a little bit of success Alabama all the sudden wants to pull the plug lol.
Why UAB now and why not Troy around 5-10 years ago when they were good? Is UAB losing too much money to football, draining resources from the school? That would be the only reason the State of Alabama should attempt to pull the plug on UAB football.
