And you thought this was interesting why?

You believe hotels shouldn't be built near campus or in DeKalb in order to avoid future such incidents?
You are shocked drugs are sold or used near campus or in DeKalb?
For future reference, you now prefer to a) avoid this hotel, or b) stay at this hotel?
You don't recall seeing this in the Master Plan?

Because I found it relevant... Seeing how we are discussing the Hotels. That's all. I am not shocked... I live on a campus , and I know these things happen here. I don't live in nor have never lived in deklab, so I wouldn't know anything about the situation there. The board has been rather slow lately and I was trying to contribute.

I think some more of the "up scale" hotels might look more into suspicious activity. The red roof inn is set up like a motel, so that would be my guess. A newer style hotel like baymont and the Hampton would make it much harder to do things like this.

Love the idea. Might as well build a party deck in the south end zone for the time being. Make it all you can eat/drink and people will pay a nice premium for it.

When you are scheduling 3 games at home before 11/1, playing 1-2 week days a year makes a big difference. Don't think many are going to do it when it's 25 and a Tuesday night.

You can only do so much, have so many places to entertain people donating. The majority of people are not, and want something affordable. You come to a point where it is counter productive. This isn't Cowboy Stadium people.

On the flipside, I think open walkway, set standing area/ seating aside for groups w/ a food plan would make sense. Like the group going of an outing. Did it for Kane County and was fantastic. I think to start they should promote (even now) more group plans option. You get 1/4 to come back, you have accomplished your goal. Maybe even a regular fan, even a season ticket holder.

But that said, appears back to the beer/alcohol argument which is like trying to go from point A to B but running in a circle.

RE: Facilites Master Plan Announcement
Its a nice idea for some stadiums but realistically if we build something like this in the South Endzone it is only because we failed to grow enough as a fan base to have the South Endzone bowl built.

With hosting BC, USF, Utah, BYU, Maryland and Vandy all within 5 seasons, if this party deck idea happens in the South Endzone then we truly will never be anything better than a AA FBS team.

We need seats to make these bigger games possible not a place to spread out for 3-4 games per season.

A party deck at the top of the West stands on each side next to the media boxes would be something that would be worth while to look into though.

Still think the south endzone, for the time being, should be a family zone. Bring a blanket for the berm, plenty of space for the kids to stretch out, Victor E can roam the area for photo ops, and keeps the drunks away from the youngsters.

Who wants to sit on the berm after September though? That would be great for when it's warm, but yeah.

RE: Facilites Master Plan Announcement
Huskie Stadium is affordable for families. The Master Plan takes care of the premium seats. What's missing is an area that adds a different element to the gameday experience. That's where a Party Deck comes in play. It doesn't have to be reserved for the wealthiest of fans. Make it a more premium ticket with an all you can eat/drink package ($75ish????) and I'm sure it'll sell out. (Who thought the Jaguars - with a terrible team and terrible attendance - would sell out Party Cabanas each week for $175-$350/person)

A gameday is not just about the teams playing on the field. It needs to be an entire experience and that's where Huskie Stadium lacks. I'm sure The Yard was a big help with the atmosphere on gameday, but improvements can still be made from tailgating to the actual in-venue experience.

GIVE ME A PARTY DECK!!!

Isnt that just about what the Yordon Balcony is? Its only $100 per game (min 10 or 20 people) but its cash bar so you can spend the $75 additional on booze and hit that $175 price point.

http://huskieathleticfund.com/tickets/fo...ience.html

Boxes will be heated and under tents
Food buffet and non-alcoholic beverages included
Cash bar available throughout the entire game
Access to climate controlled building and private bathrooms

No. He's saying $75 for admission and food+drink. $175 was the price for the Jacksonville Jaguars equivalent. And it would be something that you could buy individual tickets for, not something that requires a group of 10+

Right now they are selling chairbacks for individual games at $65 per ticket without food or drinks. Its kind of hard to imagine that there would be much value in including food and drinks for only $10 more.

They totally sold out the Yordon Balcony seating with groups of 10 or 20 at $100ea this past season. An individual ticket to the same thing would be in the $150 per person range but that is still with a cash bar.

This past year they were basically charging $130 per game to be in the coaches club which got you some better food and the service of a cash bar but didnt include your seat.

My point is no way are you getting that for $75per game unless maybe that does not include the price of a ticket to get in the stadium.

If you open up a party deck or 2 at the top corners of the West stands you could likely keep the pricing at $150-$200 per game with offering some sort of buffet and cash bar but I don't think it could be offered for any cheaper. The biggest issue would be bathrooms.
