It wouldn't surprise me at all if that's the case. And Diesel is no longer allowed to run the field. Incredible.

BRING BACK DIESEL!

Are you serious...they wont allow him on the field anymore? Does he just stay in the East lot the whole game? Does Cheer Dad not even go inside the stadium?

HuskieBob, I thought it was cheerdad's decision to retire Diesel as he was having hip problems & it was getting harder for him to run in the endzone. Maybe I misunderstood?

CheerDad told NIU he wanted to see how Diesel was physically during the 2013 season. Diesel did very well during the season and CheerDad was gonna bring him back for 2014. Next thing he knew, NIU informed him that Diesel was being retired and Mission was taking over. Money talks (think about who is sponsoring Mission).

Totally unfair and unappreciative of what CheerDad's given, IMO.

I still don't understand that. Diesel's practically royalty around here, or should be.

Thank you for educating us on this. I was not aware of that. It is indeed totally unfair how Diesel is being treated after he and CheerDad have done SO much for NIU over the years. Diesel should be given carte blanche to do whatever he wants. He earned it.

Seriously, do these things really affect your ability to get excited or enjoy NIU football?

Awesome.

03-2thumbsup

I had to ask my friend if they blew the canon off at the CMU game we went to. It was a week later. He said yes. Honestly, no recollection.

I couldn't tell you if a Huskie was running around.

Could not tell you if they played Metallica, Beatles, JayZ, or that really irritating song Take Me to Church.

Had you overly indulged at tailgating? Were you sleep deprived? Maybe you really weren't even AT the game. LOL just kidding. ;-)
Cheer up my friend...don't be cranky. Would you prefer dead silence? no music, no canon, no mascot, no band, no cheerleaders, no red/black chant, no 3rd down yelling...no nothing?
What can NIU do to make a better gameday experience for you? One you would feel was exciting & memorable? The powers that be are paying attention these days & they are open to ideas from us.

There's only one thing I care about. Winning. Everything else is background noise.

At what point do we start the "We want Diesel" chant on Nov. 11?

I imagine it'll get corrupted into "WE WANT DWEEZIL!" or "WE WANT D-CELLS!" rather quickly. (If you've got a better joke, by all means....)

Well as long as Sean T. Frazier understands, that's all that matters.

I honestly don't look at the sidelines. Where I sit with my friend, his seats are row 20 so I am pretty much looking at game, not high up and eyes wandering.

The cannon would have only went off 3x vs CMU, so that's perhaps why I missed it. Used to double that. lol

Perhaps I don't remember music since I just think it really sucks, can't identify. But it doesn't phase me. From what I pay attention to, so geared towards someone in their college years. But I will say when I am occasionally paying attention to a game on tv, bands seems more involved (I thought the band was much more in the past, maybe my memory) and the music more rock, older and newer.

I think pros it is more of a thing. I will say the Bears have reached new lows in their themes, music selection. It's like a dance party, that they have in the parking lot then sometimes like old WLIT. No idea who changed it, but it sucks. They should be fired. It's an older crowd. The Patriots yesterday played The Who, Doors, .38 Special, Alice in Chains, they jump around song and of course, Boston. Music people actually know the words to, at minimum can identify with.

NBA has to be the worst though. Non-stop crap pumped in loud with fake fan noise at most places. That actually is irritating.

Apparently not with this current administration. If he was inducted would it take place in the East lot or would he granted access to the field?
