RE: Define Progress
I predicted six wins before the season started, and right now we are one game ahead of schedule. Other than the win over Rice, the only real difference from what I anticipated to this point is the absolute beat-down from Marshall. I was looking forward to a Heinicke/Cato shootout and had no appreciation for just how good this Marshall team is. Frankly, I have come to the conclusion that this Marshall team is a once-every-ten-years quality team for C-USA.

We have six games to get three more wins for a .500 season. I think we have a viable opportunity to exceed that outcome. Yes, I was one of the old farts who left early in the fourth quarter Saturday and wobbled out on painful knees (a first time occurence), but it was not because I have given up on this team. The best is yet to come this year.

Wal-Mart $20 had portable seats that fasten underneath the bleachers and provide back support. They're even blue. We bought ours 2 years ago and have they ever come in handy.

This! I bought mine before the first game 5 years ago. They work great, relatively comfortable to the bottom end and give pretty good back support. Most college stadiums have bleachers with no backs and people bring in their seats or rent them from the school. If someone is suffering due to not having back support, it is their own fault.

RE: Define Progress
I, too, have a great deal of difficulty sitting in the bleachers without a back rest, due to back problems. Moderately old. Wood Selig talked about putting seat backs in a couple of years ago, but that was before talk of the new stadium. No way that kind of money is going to be spent, now, so we will just have to tough it out a few more years. I have stayed every minute of EVERY game. Sunburned thru New Hampshire, freezing in Pittsburgh, slightly sunburned thru the Marshall debacle, and even ALL the way thru that game to the south at the end of last season that shall no longer be mentioned!

Yeah, we also bought our bleacher seats the first year, and they have been worth their weight in gold. My problem now is my knees are starting to go.

Bench seating would help that too. Simply grab the back of the bench in front of you and it will help you get to your feet. My dad does that when we go to the movies (he hurt his knees in WWII).

Wow our stadium fans are almost as beat up as our offensive line. I don't have a great spine either. We need a few young reserves.

Well the bleachers don't seem to bother you too much and that is a positive, I think both of us will make it to see the new stadium.

RE: Define Progress
Obviously there will be highs and lows during this transition period. It's hard to really evaluate progress based on one or two games. I feel like our progress can be sort of like the stock market there will continue to be highs and lows (some of them very disappointing), but as long as the market goes up over the long haul, I call it progress. Some of our "friends" from other schools will take enjoyment from our losses, but at least we are part of a process that is moving forward and not just sitting on the sidelines

Based on what I assume to be your graduation dates, you're both young whippersnappers to me!

Like the clown from GA State, Panama, in the Smack Thread GSUs Talon started about them. What an absolute delusional moron. I'd lay money on Hampton or EMU against them all day long and twice on Sunday and won't even give his comment on Rice the time of day. But, enjoy our little down Mr. Clown, if you must. Jealousy looks really poorly on you.[/b]

My definition of progress: When fans realize where we are as a program and don't think losing games to MTSU and Marshall mean the sky is falling.

Progress is when we can sit these monsters and have them be in our system for 5 years.
