Fumble was recovered by redshirt freshman, Brandon Mayes #24. Looking forward to seeing more of him in the secondary.

Wedel can't kickoff. They never make it to the end zone. Tommy Lee is overrated and Brown is the real deal.
Conlon could be suspended for throwing a punch?
J.B did nothing thank goodness we had Stingly.
Love the Freshmen CB's. I was glad we played aggressive.
Turner should be the only kickoff returner.
Tommy Lee had a bad game, but he has had some amazing games for us. He'll be a huge factor this season.
Yep, we got lucky on both fumbles, but you need a few bounces. They got a few too...the interception that Ford (I think?) dropped and he would have ran for a while.
Offense, glad where it ended up, but man some weird moments in the first half. When we have 3rd and short and a really experienced line, run the dang ball up the gut.
That's the most trouble we've had with the bubble screen in the last 3 seasons. It just was not there.
Our LB's...wow they played great, and it's a deep group as well.
I actually think the Wedel kick-offs were planned, we didn't want to give it to them deep.
Jason Meehan has turned into an absolute beast.
I'll have to watch the replay, but whoever was stuffing up the middle was great all game.
I'm surprised Maddie didn't get another chance to start the 2nd half? He looked better than expected in his limited time.

+1000 on Meehan. +1 on Maddie getting another chance. After Carey was yelling at Hare after the 2nd series of the 2nd half, I thought he might try Maddie again. I thought it was weird at the time, but Carey must know a little more than me.

Yup...Logan was hopping around with the ball way too loose.

By putting him back in it signaled to everyone that though they're not settled on a QB, a guy's not going to get yanked immediately because of a mistake. He gave him a chance to respond to adversity and he did it.

Yeah. I saw Daniels limping after the game and after his last run. Hope it's not serious.
Those bashing Rod Carey are insane. Trust in him. It may not be the way you would do things, but you're not a college football coach.
The D was so fun to watch. There was pressure the entire game. The LB crew was fast. Ford in coverage on a deep route keeping up with a WR?! Amazing speed! Meehan is a beast. The freshman in the secondary are more than impressive. Albert Smalls is going to be great. The 3-4 is working out really well.
They were keying in on Tommy Lee and the jet sweep. Yeah, he didn't have his best game, but I believe them having to cover him tight helped Brescasin and Brown. There were a few WR screens that we ran that went from shade to bright sunlight. That can't be easy for the WR to pick up the ball and judge speed.
Punting was fantastic. Wedel had a couple of bombs. FG unit was awful. This is what needs to be addressed most. It can make or break a game. Would like to see Beebe returning punts all of the time. It seemed like he was making cuts around the kick coverage before he even caught the ball.
O line and the RB's were great, as usual. Good to see Cam back. QB isn't the only three headed monster on this team! Bouagnon, Cam and Akeem are all fantastic RB's.
As for the QB, it seems this might go on for the few more games going into conference play. Drew played great, Maddie played well, and Mac was average. You can see why this has been a tough decision. One thing I liked this week was being able to judge these QB's with the 1's all game long. Playing with the 3's doesn't give you an accurate picture of what could be with these guys. Probably the main reason I wasn't feeling satisfied after Presby.
If one thing stood out more than anything this week, it was our speed and conditioning. Our players were just plain better than theirs. Gotta remember this was only our second game, so there are things to iron out on offense with the new QB's, but overall we looked really good. It's fun to go into a Big Ten stadium believing you should win, and not giving a rat's ass that it's a B1G team because you've been there, done that. This program doesn't seem to be going losing a step after losing a Heisman finalist at QB. That's more than refreshing.
1. Kyle Prater is real good (NU should have thrown that slant route to him all day long)
2. Hare has to be the starter going forward, appears to be the only one who can throw.
3. Stingly was obviously suspended and not injured
4. ACRB didn't look nearly as effective against a real team, Stingly showed he is still quite a bit better
5. Beebe should be the punt returner
6. Need to use Canada more
7. As good as the defense was, as soon as NU switched to Justin Jackson at RB, he was able to get yds(problem against ARK)
A. Also the deep pass was open all day if NU could catch anything
8. Still not a fan of Carey..I applaud him for changing qbs, but that is about it.
A. He obviously didn't watch tape on how NU got beat last week. I understand we ran for a lot of yards, but only real plays that
worked were passing plays, just like how CAL threw for 300yds.. His game preparation leaves something to be desired.
B. If stingly wasn't hurt why didn't we use him the whole game?
9. UNLV isn't my worry anymore, Arkansas is...
10. Need to find a kicker..no excuses..
11. Still think we win all the games(even though I picked 1 loss)

Stingily was hurt. He didn't get more plays, because he isn't in shape. He didn't practice until this week.
NIU ran for over 220 yards and had 400 total yards, the scheme was just fine. It was much better in the 2nd half, but it was fine.
Beebe does need to return punts, maybe kicks as well. Logan sucks as a returner.
Not sure why they need to use Canada more? Daron brown torched NW. Honestly, he may be the best receiver in the MAC this year. He has over 200 yards and 3TDs and I don't think he's had more than 12 targets.
Kicking game does need to be corrected, that's not Carey's fault, they just don't have a guy capable yet. Go check out soccer practice.
Lastly, Hare needs to learn to throw the screen. He nearly took TLLs head off twice. Just get him the ball, he's dangerous.

We should have thrown for over 300yds..I get we have been a running team, but the passes were working all day long for(HARE), so I don't think we need the screens... deep ball worked every time(as long as HARE is throwing it)
I would like to use Canada more on those 2nd and 3rd downs where you need 5-7 yds, because of his size.
Still don't think Stingly was hurt...they said 4 games..not 1...

NU's starting safety went down in the 2nd quarter and came out after halftime without pads. The backup was the guy getting beat and Carey used Hare to take advantage.
-Give Hare the ball and let him keep it. How I felt with him in there compared to McIntosh early was akin to the 2010 Hawks goalie situation. Just inexplicably more comfortable with Hare vs. Mac, similar to Niemi over Huet. Athleticism be damned, he seems the one most equipped to facilitate for our skill position guys.
-This defense the past two games is the best Huskies D I've ever watched. I know there have been better, but not since I've been watching. Wonderful to see.
-Need to figure out the kicking game or it is absolutely going to cost us. Surprised it didn't yesterday.

I know some of you have young children that you bring to the games, so don't take this too personally. When did Ryan Field become a toddler playpen? There were kids climbing all over the place then entire game. It was very distracting and became quite annoying after their parents just gave up on trying to control them. It was already bad enough sitting in front of the pre-teen NU fans who wanted to try and start arguments with us about every call the refs made. Moral of the story, don't sit in section 223.
As far as the game goes...
Thank god the D played well enough to hold NU to zero points in the first half. There were still a lot of wide open receivers, which needs to be fixed. Maddie looked good in his limited time. McIntosh looked terrible, which was a surprise to me. Hare got it done and I commend him for it. I'm glad we got to give the cats a taste of THE STINGER!!!!! He is such a fun running back to watch. He may not be fast, but boy does he run hard. Da'Ron Brown is great. Beebe is the guy for punt returns. Take Paris Logan off of kick offs. He almost got injured and that would not have been good.
I feel pretty confident in the Huskies ability to beat UNLV. I already can't wait for next Saturday.

How cool is it to see Meehan and Fleming meet at the QB in this clip. We've all noted how great Meehan was but Fleming had a great game too. He's really found a home in this defense.
