Must be all the stress of choosing a starting QB.
I honestly think the decision has gotten inside of his mind. I love Coach Carey, but this whole situation is revealing some chinks in the armour Im afraid.
Jesus, it was a joke. I'm sure Carey isn't stressing much at all. Seems like a laid back guy.

He seems more pleasant than Doeren. That isn't saying much, I know. Doeren did provide some useful info in his interviews sometimes, it wasn't all coach-speak.
I'm way more interested in the team doing well than any interview.

I have met both SF and RC. RC was far more personable and friendly then SF who appeared inconvenienced to even meet me.

It would be nice to have a guy do both, but I will take Ws for sure. I mainly only pay attention because it's my alma maters coach, otherwise I wouldn't care.
Don't have to be polarizing especially at a mid major.
What? Outside of some gators and cocks, very few like Superior.

I'm talking about the media. The media loves Spurrier.
I don't like any of the teams he's coached and I find him highly entertaining and often rooting for them when I see them play.

Carey bothers me because you don't get to act like Belichek or Saban... when you always lose the big game.. If you think about it Carey hasn't won anything but some MAC games.... Lost to Florida St(not that i expected a win), Lost to BG(mac championship), Lost to Utah St..
Spurrier is great..is a dick in the interviews, but knows how to thread the needle, so he comes off entertaining and part of the "good ole boys" club... accent helps..

Carey beat an Iowa team at Kinnick that finished 2nd in the B1G Legends and played in the Outback Bowl on New Year's Day.

So, you're the one!
The media loved Terrell Owens, too.

I wouldn't classify the poinsettia bowl as a big game. I don't even think they wanted to be there, especially considering the lost out on the Bcs game.
I would consider ball state and Toledo as big games for NIU. That's just the truth, those wins got NIU to the title game. If you also don't consider two big ten wins as anything NIU expectations have gone up significantly. Yes, Purdue blows but for those of you keeping score Carey has 50% of NIUs all time wins vs big ten teams.
Let's start looking at the facts. He also doesn't act like belichek or spurrier. Not even close.

It was an 8-5 Iowa team... Beating a low end BIG10 team isn't impressive anymore. Just like destroying Purdue wasn't impressive. Big Ten East was so weak last year (Northwestern 5-7, Michigan 7-6, Minnesota 8-5)..not exactly elite..
Bowl games don't count to justify a team anymore, because most bowls are guaranteed by conference.

How a coach acts to me is just not that important, Doeren had the most abrasive personality of any coach I can remember for awhile, but his contributions to NIU are immeasurable. The only thing that worries me with Carey is this inability to make a decision in one of the most important positions on a football team.

Low end? Iowa was 5-3 in the B1G overall standings, which tied for 4th place. And the team they tied with (Nebraska) they beat, so they were the 4th best team in the 12 team B1G. So you're not impressed unless Carey is beating the B1G champs?

Yeah, I mean let's question Saban, Gary Anderson, Jimbo Fisher, Bob Stoops, Jerry Kill. All these coaches have had issues picking QBs the last two seasons, all went bowling and all are super unsuccessful I guess.

Yeah, Iowa sucked. They list to two BCS bowl opponents, a third fringe one.
Their losses came to teams that were a combined 47-8. All but one of the teams they lost to ended the season in the top 25 (everyone but NIU)
Cartershaw is clueless.

Name me teams 15-25 that were ranked at the end of any year in the past decade. Go.

I thought Carey was pretty poor on the show with Bill Baker last night. He acted like he'd rather be at the dentists office. It's a freakin' PR show with the "voice" of the Huskies asking "softball" questions so the "fans=paying customers" get a little info.
Lighten up Rod...It's part of the job...Enjoy it. Or at least act like you do.
Well this escalated quickly.

Winning in Iowa was HUGE, and nothing like the win @ Purdue, that was a big win for the program, it essentially put the stamp of legitimacy on what happened the year before.
