Carey will be on 670 The Score this morning with Matt Abbatacola and Barry Rozner, sometime between 9-1, I will post when the exact time is unveiled...

Rozner is a HUGE NIU public supporter, alumni and fan....so this should be a good interview

UPDATE: Carey on at 11:40!!!
He should pull on Ozzie. Hey Rod, let me ask you about the QB situaiton. "Ahhh **** you."

For those of you out of town or if u wanna listen at the office, here's the stream:

But I thought the Score hated NIU?!?!?!?! If that is true why would they ever put the head coach on the Mid-Day show?!?!?!?!
Rozner should make this good. Abbatacola is a miserable douche.
Rozner is an NIU grad Abbatacola will be ok since he is on with Rozner
Let me know if Carey actually answers any questions.
How Carey interracts with the media is fairly low on my "Qualities of a FB HC Totem Pole", but....

I thought Carey was pretty poor on the show with Bill Baker last night. He acted like he'd rather be at the dentists office. It's a freakin' PR show with the "voice" of the Huskies asking "softball" questions so the "fans=paying customers" get a little info.

Lighten up Rod...It's part of the job...Enjoy it. Or at least act like you do.
I like Carey as a coach, but he is a boring interview. Rarely has anything meaningful to say. But good pub for NIU, though.
You guys understand a lot of the media obligations are likely contractual, thus they are "obligations!"...not free time choices by the coach...is Bill Belicheck all smiles and stories? No, he's crabby and short...like majority of coaches....

Boy, I didn't hear the show, but if this is true! My god. Seriously someone talk to him. If you can;t be pleasant and joyful in a PRESEASON interview ON YOUR OWN SHOW, when can you. Your points are absolutely correct.

I know at the end of the day, we didn't hire him to do a coach's show, but to win games. Unless, we DID hire him to do both. It's part of building the fan base.

Yes, I get it. And he had MAC Media Day earlier so he was probably tired of talking.

Hopefully, he'll represent better on 670 today.

+1,000... as a huskie fan, as long as RC keeps the Ws coming, I'm all about him...but yeah, whether it's business, being a doctor or a football coach, if you act like an ass you better be INCREDIBLE at what you do...else here cometh the wolves if you have any setbacks.... but again, what has happened to college football the past decade...while it's been exciting (esp for us Huskie fans) these coaches have been placed on such pedestals..it's amazing and disturbing all at the same time..

Doeren was less enthusiastic than Carey when it came to radio interviews.

The football coaches of late have not been great public speakers. Kill might have been the best with his awe shucks presentation. Novak was also no nonsense. They are here to coach football not give good sound bites.
You know who sucked giant elephant balls in regards to media interaction?!?!?! LOVE SMITH....and guess what????? he is consistently listed as the top coach players want to play for in NFL polls taken....

You want your NIU Cheerleader with the Pom Poms, that's what Sean Frazier is for! Carey sucks with the media unfortunately, so we just gotta deal cause really he's there to get W's, not pump up the fanbase with hooray speeches...

True...although I recall him having some fun with B & B at Fattys one time.

Again, I prefaced that I didn't rank media relations very high as far as what I look for in a FB HC.

Regarding the show last night...I think I just felt a little sorry for Rumbling Stumbling Bill Baker trying to pull teeth with RC who sounded like he wanted to be anywhere but there.
