Hey, I give all the credit in the world to UCF. Congrats on the win. You guys had a great team and I rooted for you. But historically its UConn and Cincy that bring in the bucks and provide the separation. Marshall has just as good of a chance as UCF of bringing home a BCS win this year. My point was just that whatever separation exists between the AAC and CUSA is mostly in those two teams. And while I give you that ODU and UNCC have a bit to prove in football due to our newness, the rest of us are pretty equal in football and basketball.

Do with the fans what you will. I'm talking about the conference that gave you guys your homes -- a home for nearly 20 years in your case, and a home that, as I recall, patiently waited you out while you were trying to decide your post-Katrina athletics fate.

If you didn't notice, that entire conference that Tulane and ECU knew is gone. ECU has a long history with playing programs like USF, UCF, Cincy, Memphis, Tulane, etc. Do you really think they saw last year's CUSA as the historical conference that they recognize?

CUSA only shares a name with what the conference used to be, especially for programs like Tulane and ECU who were members for many many years.

Did you really just include USF and UCF...in teams ECU has a long history with?

4 & 11 games you call that long?

Marshall 15
UAB 13
La Tech 6
Texas-El Paso 4

Personally I could careless about any school in the AAC nor do I think less of them leaving CUSA...

every school not in a P5 conference is looking for a invite to anther conference. That's just the way it is and will be. No one from C-USA/MAC/SBC is turning down a invite to the AAC. No one from the SBC is turning down a invite to CUSA.

The next 5 years will dictate pecking order of the G5 and I don't think anyone looking at things through truly neutral eyes would list

AAC
MWC

as the top 2 in the G5...that could easily change in the next 5 years

I think every single school in the AAC wishes they were in a P5 conference--as do most schools anywhere.

Having said that, it's absolutely true that the AAC newcomers are relieved they are no longer in Cusa and view their move as a step up.

I'm shocked we haven't seen anyone complaint about AAC posters pottering over here in this thread.

If you don't want AACers posting over here don't create a topic about AAC.

PurpleReigns2012, I had the opportunity to visit the ECU campus this week as I was in Greenville on business. You folks have MUCH to be proud of...your campus is beautiful. I even got a couple of great pics and had a conversation with some classy ECU guys there that were like, "hey LaTech!" and were super nice...as I was wearing my BULLDOG shirt.

I left saying, "CRAP I wish we'd had the chance to play y'all in football as conference mates..."

That said, best wishes to y'all. Maybe our paths will cross again at some point!

You point became moot when you said "a BCS win this year"

2nd thought, stick around and watch us leave your asses in the dust. Buy your way out of that one in a few years.

So, the reason you prefer Cusa to the AAC is because you believe Cusa will have more athletic success within a few years?

Congrats to the AAC on buying an advertisement in USA Today, doesn't change the fact they are still near the bottom of the mountain looking at the peak.

Everyone in the non-cartel 5 does.

In terms of money, yes we are behind the so called P-5. In terms of on the field performance...

Men's Basketball - National Title
Women's Basketball - National Title

Football - BCS Win over the Big 12 champ and it wasn't even close. (17 point lead before the junk TD at the end)

That looks pretty major or "power" to me.

I do agree though the C-USA was really good to UCF. It was a springboard to what we accomplished.
