Exactly what I was thinking.

This is the difference between liberals and conservatives. Liberals understand thing for what they are, conservatives just repeat the talking points of corporate heads.

We are fully aware of that country boy. It's the irony that is amusing us.

I'm glad you see that I'm correct...

If Walmart, Target, Kroger, Publix, etc are already doing it, and have been doing it for years now...you knew McDonalds wouldn't be far behind.

Actually you are not correct. Companies aren't going to lose money.

Quote where I said they would. 07-coffee3

Quote:Liberal website ThinkProgress — whose parent organization, the Center for American Progress, is funded by labor unions — recently praised France for its high minimum wage of $12 an hour, and pointed out that McDonald’s still operated in the country with prices roughly comparable to those in the US. The organization also hailed WinCo — a small grocery store in the western United States — for its higher employee wages and cost-saving business model.

Ironically, all of Think Progress’ examples involve automation and other trade-offs that result in fewer jobs for entry-level employees.

The first example is McDonald’s’ “tidy profit” in France, which ostensibly results from happy humans making a higher minimum wage. The downside is European fast food workers are beginning to look more like R2D2 than entry-level employees. This process has been underway for several years: In 2011, when Micky D’s in the United States employed 64,000 humans, its European counterpart “hired” 7,000 touch screen computers.

I wonder ... if ... the bag boy and checkout clerk ... also ... got paid ... minimum wage. He says with intentionally extended pace and extremely sarcastic gesturing.

Businesses know people hate wait time to checkout. So U-Scan is two for one ... you drastically reduce wait times and instead of replacing 1 person like you are at McDonalds, you're replacing 4 in 1 or higher since it takes one person to watch 4 lanes.

I shop at the local fresh market and Kroger a majority of the time. But both of those have self check outs as well and no hot young ladies, even though it's a college town.

You, on the other hand want to pretend it has nothing to do with minimum wage hikes.

To claim that labor and it's associated costs are not driving the marketplace search for alternatives?...would be an outright untruth. It is the driving force. It is all because of competition.... Always has been and alway will be. NOTHING the government can do will stop those in the marketplace from seeking to maximize profits. NOTHING.

If the government does succeed in quashing competition?.....Atlas Shruggs.

Once their hand was pushed, well sure. It's either that or go out of business. Then we all lose, right?

So, minimum wage moonbats, automation will take some jobs, wage increases will claim others. Wage increases will accordingly require better skills, more training and probably higher educational levels. Who's going to be getting these jobs now? kids? nope. drop outs? nope. Unskilled, poorly educated folks? nope.

There's only one solution left, then isn't there? (aside from simply letting them rot on the leftist plantation)

Clearly it's time to either lower the minimum wage or do away with it altogether. Amiright?

We want these people to work, don't we? Learn a skill? Become productive, contributing members of society? We've got to get them into the workforce, and do it soon or they never will. So yep, there it is. Time to lower the barriers to entry, or do away with it altogether. Let's get this done!!!
