RE: Chad Frazier Gone?
I'm disappointed in both Haase and Mackin.

If there's a bright side, it's comforting to know who's in charge on the south side.

Think whoever the president is at our rural sister campus is would balk if Little Nicky wanted to keep a player? And I don't see too many Blazer fans calling for Watts' head over it.

If Haase has learned anything, I hope it's that there are bigger things than basketball. As for Mackin, the optimist in me is hoping he was just going to bat for his coach.

RE: Chad Frazier Gone?
As somebody in the know, I have knowledge that there has been an ongoing battle for weeks. President Watts told Jared and Brian that Frazier had to play, or Brian would lose half of his pay. Jared finally threw down the gauntlet & said that he would quit. President Watts has been interviewing new ADs with the plan to make Brian full time Bartow floor sweeper. President Watts finally backed down and Frazier was dismissed.

I think we've all just learned a lot

Chad was provided his release due to the powers above Jared and Brian (the president) deeming him suspended from uab campus for the entire fall semester due to his actions..... This suspension became effective nearing the end of July onwards after an internal investigation was performed and an appeal effort by jared and chad were denied.

The administration made a mess of covering this unfortunate event up at the expense of winning. It was evident that winning meant more then being morally and ethically right. Fortunately President Watts had other thoughts and deemed this something the school could not ignore.

Although this was unfortunate for all involved, it is good that the school side of dealing with situations is moral. Hopefully Jared and Brian will take note from this in the future. Winning should not come at the expense of doing the wrong thing or turning a blind eye.

Excellent post. Too bad most won't (or refuse to) understand what the above post is really saying.

And we should believe him because?

So I am confused. Two people "close to the situation" have two different takes on it? One said Watts wanted him gone and the other says Watts wanted him to play. Is that what I read?

Hassle received his training at NC where it is clearly win at any costs - academics or behavior be damned. To expect anything else was wishful thinking

The Watts wanted him to play comment was tongue in cheek.

RE: Chad Frazier Gone?
There is official documentation that can be seen of Watts and the student life representatives suspending Chad for a semester. It was a good thing that it was finally acknowledged. An internal investigation found Chad guilty of three misconduct charges. This is not a court of law so he is innocent from a legal standpoint until proven guilty. He is however not allowed to be a student at UAB for the fall.

Bottom line.

Chad was arrested for knocking his girlfriend around.

Chad is no longer a UAB Blazer.

Glad the story is finally out there. And I'm glad Frazier is gone. As far as I'm concerned, that's one strike against Haase.

Not that it is needed from me, but I agree.

Things like this make you wonder if the North Carolina academic thing goes deeper than what we would like.

sorry…mine was pure sarcasm (i would have thought moving mackin to full time broom duty would have given it away). my point was that somebody thats never posted to the board before comes on here and gives all the inside scoop, completely throwing the coach and AD under the bus, and people just accept it as though its fact.

its a very reasonable scenario…but i don't think its any more or less likely, just because this guy says so. it seems to me that somebody close enough to the inner circle to know all the details probably wouldn't venture onto a message board for the 1st time to throw "Jared and Brian" under the bus

For what it is worth, I've heard the same thing from different sources.

Just because someone has a low post count doesn't make them less credible. Massage board fallacy.

RE: Chad Frazier Gone?
It is the scenario that sounds most likely to me.

Nothing happened in the case from Haase for weeks.

What other scenario would be a reasonable explanation of how it has played out?

It seems like a safe assumption to me that someone "close to the situation" would know how to spell the names correctly.

Are you kidding? Attalla is close to a lot of situations, and we've seen his spelling. 03-lmfao

RE: Chad Frazier Gone?
All in all we just came on here to help people understand. It took two months for the suspension to occur, it shows that this was not at the will of Haase or Mackin for if it were it would have occurred sooner. Feel free to ask the school themselves about the suspension. Chad could have stayed to play in the Spring had he met the requirements set by the school for re-enrolment. This is not written as a dig at either men however for people to understand what has unfolded this summer. Go Blazers.

It didn't take a detective to figure out what happened here. It was the only logical explanation.

That was how I read it. You know that Haase didn't want to lose Chad. It passes up the food chain through Mackin, and eventually the buck stops at the President's desk.
