From Teamyates, ESPN, and HMM. This board was such an improvement but miss the characters from the old ones. Probably found those old boards after talking to HMM after he started taking the Huskiemobile to games in '03 ('02?).

Perusing the internet for ANY Huskie athletic related info, stumbled onto this site. Love the information provided and reading perspectives from Huskie fans old and new.

RE: How did you find the Dog Pound?
I went to Google and put in "Northern Illinois University Athletics". Google provided several options, one of which was CSNBBS..... As soon as I went there, I've been hooked on the Dog Pound. I love everyone's insight and thoughts. This site makes it bearable during the offseason and I enjoy all of the conversation during the football season. Go Huskies!

I was on the old teamyates board + whatever other boards there were back in the early 2000s. GTS does a much better job running things though.

I think my old roommate found it when we were getting into NIU basketball.

I totally agree. It gives me a CONNECTION to other Huskie fans all the time. It's not easy being in Illness territory with zero news about NIU. So I am SURE it is not easy for other Huskie fans that are spread out all over the country.
The Dog Pound is truly a great way to be connected.

Hey Illinois beat WMU that year, too. You missed 50% of the wins!

Wasn't there a board before TeamYates? I don't remember how I found whatever the original board was, probably a web search. I've just followed the NIU boards around since then.

HFA, if you think it's bad in Illinois, try living way out in the land of USC and UCLA where the only way to get NIU news is to listen to the games on streaming radio or follow them on the Sports Illustrated live scoring updates (hitting refresh every 2 seconds). Which is what I was doing when I stumbled on a link that led to a link that led to here. I don't post a lot, but I do visit fairly often to catch up on the news and laugh at all of the silly inside jokes and references to DeKalb hotspots that nobody else around here gets.

Are you able to watch the games?

You could try http://www.firstrows.eu if you can't.

Huh. I figured you all found it by searching for "Bart's name is here so he'll feel special."

(Is that getting too inside baseball for even here?)

I can only imagine how bad it is. You have my sympathy for sure. I hope you make it back to DeKalb now & then? If not, you need to. Just to get a "real" Huskie fix!
You better make plans to go to the San Diego State game in..what was it? 2018? There's your chance to see your Huskies in person. 04-cheers

RE: How did you find the Dog Pound?
Mr. MissionFan is too cheap to pay for cable TV. :D But I will definitely check out the links, so, thanks!

I get back to Chicago about once every 3 or 4 years, but it's always during Christmas break. I still make the Mr. and the kids trek out to DeKalb for Pizza Villa and to buy souvenirs on clearance sale at the VCB. Once we even snuck into the end zone. That was before my son switched from playing football to water polo.

I did drive down to San Diego for the Orange Bowl watch party and for both Poinsettia Bowls, so I'm definitely looking forward to the game there. I also dragged my daughter to the Silicon Valley bowl (still have the t-shirt) in the pouring rain. I'm planning to go to the UNLV game if my car doesn't fall apart on the way, so I'm hoping to meet up with some of you guys there.

RE: How did you find the Dog Pound?
Years ago, my friend... I'll call him "Damon Copek" -- told me about this CSN bulletin board system. I got in on the action in the WMU forum obviously, but wondered why there wasn't any B10 fans in their own circles... then looked to see if anyone else was posting in the MAC. Barely none! Toledo during a game... and NIU of course, since you guys have had a decent football team.

What gets me is that there's very few MAC (or B10) fans going on this site, but there seems to be pesky EMU fans lingering. I never knew there was actual, real-live emoo fans existing on planet Earth.

I think a lot of b10 schools are on Rivals.

RE: How did you find the Dog Pound?
These are wonderful days to be Huskie fans and alum! Based on the scheduling, recruiting and expansion to the stadium in football, it's only going to get better over time. Yes, there will be a down season here or there, but the trend will be upward.

Even beter is how basketball under the new coach has a pulse. I'm hopeful he continues to recruit and teach well, bringing us back to respectable in hoops.
