and our illustrious President is out doing fund raisers. When I think I can't despise this man any more, he manages to add my revulsion and disgust. This country needs a real leader right now and we don't even have a pretense of a real leader. We have a campaigner in chief and vacationer in chief.

Foreign policy is a tricky thing and there are no easy solutions, no matter who is in power and what the political party is.

What to do...?

Do and say nothing - You look "weak"
Tough language, speeches and phone call "demands" - Typically does nothing
Economic sanctions - Qaddafi's Libya aside, it usually does nothing and winds up hurting the populace more than those in power; usually results in retaliatory sanctions.
Military response - Risk a direct military confrontation with Russia, one that we avoided from the 1940s through 1980s, and more Middle East conflicts... few have the stomach for that.

That's even if we find out exactly who ordered and who performed the missile launch with utmost certainty, which is highly doubtful at this point (my hunch is a rogue military leader of some sort, likely from the Russian side ... I'm skeptical that even Putin would've ordered such an action).

If it happened anywhere else other than the hotbed of the Ukraine/Russian border, I would've guessed it could be Al Qaeda demonstrating that they don't need to smuggle stuff through airports anymore, they have the means to launch stuff up 35K feet from fields now.

Any true investigative work in that area will be difficult.

IDK, I prefer him to do fundraisers while standing at a gridlock with Congress... The more both sides of the aisle actually do, the more harm to this country they cause. Obama needs to go golfing more often, and Boehner needs to work on more lawsuits.
