If football were to ever get as successful as our basketball team, it most definitely could. But hey, lets not turn this into a football versus basketball pizzing match. As Tiger fans we need to support both. Yea, football is my favorite sport, but nothing would make me, as a Tiger fan, happier than to have big time success in both sports. Love Tiger football AND Tiger basketball. Hopefully we can be great in both.

Agree. I support both Memphis football and basketball. My dream is to see them both ranked in the top 25 in the same year. Louisville has done it. We can also.

It is not a zero sum game. There is plenty of love to go around for both Memphis Tiger sports.

Judging him by last year's team is unfair, which I kind of thought everybody understood. His passing percentage was badly affected by lots of dropped passes, which in turn put us in bad situations where we had to call long-shot plays. In addition, our running game wasn't so hot. Lynch was not blameless, but my God, he was a freshman.

I thought Fuente did the wrong thing keeping him in during some games when we had a capable backup, but that's not relevant to this discussion. Nor was I personally impressed by his performance, but again, that's not relevant here. Starting this year you can judge Lynch on his own merit and then we'll see what we've got.

It was an obvious sacrificial investment for the future. If our receivers improve as much as I expect him to, I think we will have dangerous passing potential to supplement a blue-collar running game.

much as i love you, football is the #1 sport in Memphis. Just not Univ of Memphis football. Football is the #1 sport everywhere. As long as basketball is the number one sport at the Univ of Memphis, we will be a second tier sport program. That may be forever thanks to RC, Shirley, Cal, Cavegnero, Carpenter, etc...
