As long as basketball is the number one sport at the Univ of Memphis, we will be a second tier sport program. That may be forever thanks to RC, Shirley, Cal, Cavegnero, Carpenter, etc...

I am not saying Univ of Memphis football shouldn't be #1, I am saying it's won't....not anytime soon. Like someone on here said a while back....football drives the bus, but basketball pays for gas. It'll take a lot for that to change around here.
Not a huge FB fan, but just from hanging around here a while I realize that FB is what will get us in a better conference, so I am all for it. I just don't see it happening for a while. Hope I am wrong. I didn't mean for this to turn into FB vs BB debate.

Local government, media and a large number of our fans seem to accept being nothing more than a "basketball school" as part of the natural order. I want UofM to also be respected in football and academics. With pride and positive thinking we can reach great heights which will benefit the community in numerous important ways.

It's okay, as far as I can tell none of the usual trolls have showed up to bash and a rational discussion of which sport is primary seems quite appropriate to me.

Tiger Basketball is good, We have a talented team, HIring Lawson and getting his sons, But with that hiring means we will be losing a few in the process....People, Some Fans, Including JP are reaching for Dedric to be this game Changer and automatically bring us a championship, and all I can say I hope we win one every year, But if your expecting Dedric and brother K J to do it with the supporting cast they have or will have possibly, don't be let down if it doesn't happen... I worry about Paxton's slow delivery. It's ok on a deep pass, but against these zones the defenders can get a jump on his throws with that slow of a release.
