RE: 4 Big 12 teams advance to the Super Regional
I stand corrected from an earlier post: Ole Miss has four previous CWS appearances to their credit.

Let me just say Hook'em Horns and Hotty Toddy with a tip of the hat to my brother and stepmother's alma mater TCU. 04-cheers

For those old enough to remember him, I wonder who Steve Sloan would be rooting for. For those not old enough, Sloan was head football coach at Vandy, Texas Tech and Ole Miss, all of which are in this year's CWS.

Coog High must be butthurt that TCU and TT made it along with Texas, who completely outclassed them in the super regional.

Congrats to UT, TCU and Tech- The Big 12 obviously should have had more teams in. Too bad two of them have to face one another but good luck the rest of the way.

Who else should have made the field? Only 4 Big 12 teams were left out, and 3 of those were .500 or worse overall. The 4th, WVU, was 30-28 and finished the year 1-9 over their final 10.

Well done UCI, the only team representing a non-FBS conference.

The Big 12 had 5 teams in the tournament and advanced 3 to the CWS. Very impressive!

The SEC advanced 2 of 10, the ACC 1 of 7, the Big West 1 of 4, and the AAC 1 of 2.

The Pac 12 had 5 teams in but none advanced to the CWS.

There may also be some folks in College Station who aren't too thrilled that Texas reached the Supers at their expense and then advanced to Omaha.

For once can we leave out the conference vs conference BS and just congratulate the schools who made it?

UCI was one of the last 4 in the tournament, now one of the last 8 still competing for a national championship. The only participant who is located west of the Rio Grande. Of course I am rooting for my fellow UC, non-football playing brethren. It's their 2nd appearance in Omaha.

The state of Texas is well represented in the CWS, although Tech is making their debut and TCU their second go around. The Horns have been there now 35 times.

Louisville returns for the second consecutive year. Virginia, their third time in the last six years.

Vanderbilt, their second time in four years. Ole Miss is back after a three decade drought.

WVU should have made the tournament ahead of schools like Clemson with the high RPI in the 30s West Virginia had. (Vs mid 50s for Clemson) and the schools they beat from various conferences.

Not sure I agree with that. Kansas got in but couldn't win the Louisville regional. West Virginia did well against the ACC but they went 9-14 in the Big 12 and had a 28-26 overall record.

Quiet on the College World Series front? Well not in Oxford, Mississippi.:rock

Bragging aside, Texas is looking really good.

Think it shows how well balanced baseball is. There have been 10 games so far, 5 decided by 1 run, 4 decided by 2 and 1 by 3 runs. Probably any of the 8 could have won it. Won't be an all Big 12 final. Could be an all SEC final (Vandy-Ole Miss), an all "V" final (Vandy-Virginia) or an all elite flagship final (Texas-Virginia).

Vandy-UVA - interesting match-up. Both have had trouble getting to Omaha with high ranked teams in the past, good for them both to be here now.

Those are the two teams that have both great pitching and balanced hitting so in a tournament format it is not a surprise that they made it. I agree with Bullet however that this year's field could have seen any of the 8 make it given the right circumstances. Errors and weather delays have been a difference maker in this year's tournament.
