So you would likewise support a Co. that was to fire an employee that vocalized support for taxpayer funded sex change operations, right?

Depends on if that employee said it in the break room and was simply overheard...or if they said it on air at that companies radio station, acting as a company representative.

Well, lets go with on the air as this was. DJ U Memphis gets on there and says "good for Rochester taxpayers to be picking up the tab for sex change operations", and is fired for supporting this. That'd be okay, correct? Equal treatment, equal results and all, right?

Yes, it would.

Yes, it would, what? Be okay to fire someone for coming out in support of the policy? You really believe that wouldn't set off a schitstorm of epic proportions?

Or are you waiting for that response, only to say "yes, they can fire them for supporting this, then others have the right to protest that decision"?

How many "activists" have come out to suppot the DJ's in this? How many of the professionally Ooooofended would come out if a supporter of this lunacy was fired?

Another double standard, but, alas, if it weren't for double standards the left would have no standards at all. Look at their leadership... 03-lmfao

Quote:Morning radio hosts Kimberly and Beck were fired Thursday following an uproar over their take on new transgender benefits for City of Rochester employees.

The two hosted "The Breakfast Buzz" on WBZA, known as 98.9 The Buzz, which can be heard throughout the Rochester area.

The station's owner, Entercom Communications, said Thursday that Kimberly Ray and Barry Beck were let go because of comments made on the air Wednesday.

Wednesday morning, a segment of the Breakfast Buzz was dedicated to talking about an announcement Rochester's mayor made Saturday - new transgender-inclusive benefits for city employees. The benefits will cover municipal employees who are transgender or gender non-conforming.

"The services that will be paid for under the new coverage: gender reassignment surgery, psychological counseling, because you're probably a nut job to begin with, that's my opinion , hormone therapy, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery," Kimberly said, on the air.

Entercom vice president and general manager Sue Munn released a statement Thursday saying:

"This morning Entercom fired Kimberly and Beck effective immediately. Their hateful comments against the transgender community do not represent our station or our company. We deeply apologize to the transgender community, the community of Rochester, and anyone else who was offended by their comments. We are proud of our past work on behalf of the local LGBT community and we remain committed to that partnership."

"Part of the job of being a morning shock jock is indeed to be making shocking comments; however, they did cross the line in this particular case,” said Scott Fearing, executive director of the Gay Alliance.

But they really are nut jobs. APA still considers transgenderism a mental disorder

Even if it is a mental disorder, it seems to me to be similar to calling a mentally handicapped person a "retard" or something like that. The station probably has a good idea of what they can get away with saying on the radio.

Liberal TV shows get away with a lot more than using the word nutjob. Ed Shultz is proof of that and that amoeba used to have a radio show that was pretty bad with the name calling.

The issue is that Republicans get called a nutjob all the time by left heads and nothing is said about it. In fact, they're praised for it. Why do you hate equality for all?

"...that's my opinion..."

Seems to be the disclaimer she made in her statement. In other words what she said isn't the view of the station itself. This is pretty standard for broadcasting. Pretty much a spineless move to fire this girl for a what's honestly a pretty tame comment.

Funny how a guy like Howard Stern can make a living out of offensive language...

Question: Would ChikFilet have the right to fire an employee for saying the owners are intolerant of gays?

Answer: Not without a lot of manufactured outrage.

If the company they work for supports that view, then they can say that.

Never said she couldn't be fired but I do think this is a stupid (hyper-sensitive) move by the radio station.

Every talk radio show I listen to has a qualifier at the beginning say the views and opinions of the callers and hosts don't represent the views of the station.

That doesn't make their employees unfireable (is that a word?)

Dude, why do you keep defending the station? If the station owners were Jewish and a DJ stated his personal opinion that Palestinians are being oppressed by the Jews and got fired for it would you still say it's OK?
