I'm thrilled. They beat UCA For the title. We didn't need another year of UCA in the NCAA's, people might begin to think they were good or something at the sport.

2013 - UCA (UTA, TXST and UTSA all left. Left the door kinda wide open)
2012 - UTA
2011 - TXST
2010 - Lamar
2009 - SHSU (3 yrs running) TXST got a regional in 2009
Before that they (UCA) were DII. 1 year does not a dynasty make

We're talking about people from Arkansas here. In their mind, UCA's one SLC title makes them a stronger program than the rest of us.

From everything I have read, the SoCon officials didn't look too excited and the commish basically glossed over Georgia southern in an interview.

That's the only sport they have any marginal success in (their only sport to have a winning record against us by 2 games), though they haven't been to many NCAA's. SELA was also one of the last holdovers to get accepted from the Gulf South, showing they really have a low performing athletic department.

I see Sam did their usual choke job in the conference tourney.

I for the life of me can't understand why McNeese has let their entire athletic department slip to stay in that sinking ship of a conference.

I can at least say the SLC was very amicable. We won it on our way out and they handled it with class.

This was an incredible tournament for Ga. Southern. Lose the first game and have to win 5 straight to win it. We had guys who had pitched less than 30 innings all year (several of them) step up and get it done. Our closer pitches 5 innings in a start yesterday and comes in again today and pitches 2 innings of shut out ball. We were down 3-2 heading into bottom of 9th and put hits together to get it done.

This was just a sweet sweet tournament for us. We got to beat Furman 2 times yesterday to advance to the championship game and it felt so good to beat them on our way out of the SoCon. Samford today-- we looked worn out thru 6 innings today and had only 1 baserunner in the first 6 innings but came alive in the last 3 innings.

I was pulling for whoever won the Ga. Southern/App. St. game on Thursday to win it all and darn if we didn't get it done.
