Teachers Union President Whines: My Yearly Salary Is Only $369,000…
Even better: She was paid $543K last year, not $369K as she is claiming. So all you libs that love the unions, lets talk about inequality.
American Federation of Teachers (AFT) President Randi Weingarten, who was paid $543,150 last year, defended her compensation by claiming her pay is $360,000 and other reported expenses simply prove the union’s “transparency.”
As part of a series of April 28 Twitter posts demanding Congress hike the federal minimum wage to $10.10, Service Employees International Union (SEIU) District 1199 quoted from a January column Weingarten wrote for The Huffington Post.
“Justice means that hardworking people must have access to a living wage,” Weingarten wrote. AFT paid Weingarten $556,981 in 2012 and $543,150 in 2013.
When her 2013 pay was pointed out on Twitter, Weingarten made an awkward attempt to defend the gold-plated compensation she takes from AFT members and forced “fair share” fee payers in districts represented by AFT.

She's a scam artist. Teachers unions are made up of the lowest of the low.

I don't post racist threads. I post threads showing the hypocrisy of those on the left in terms of race. So back to this thread. You are a teacher, why not respond to the subject of this thread?

This broad makes $10,455 per week or $261 per hour, but I'm certain that the minimum wage workers she represents appreciate the job she's doing.

I remember when this waste of humanity said, with a straight face, that people who supported vouchers "don't really care about kids."
Hopefully this woman is disgraced soon and disappears.

The best part about it is that she does make anything, own anything, or employ anyone. At least business owners who make that kind of money provide a service.

Once again I love how the libs on this board that constantly defend unions are nowhere to be seen in this thread. Our lib teacher showed up to attack me, but made no comment on the subject of the thread.

Below are the dues you'd pay if you belonged in this union. Sorry for the formatting. It takes the biweekly dues of 205 employees paying the highest amount of dues just to pay her for one week. And that's not taking into account her perks, insurance, travel, car allowance, etc.

Sounds like Mach doesn't want to talk about the higher ups in the union that sit around BS-ing, drinking coffee, and what not getting paid a buttload of money.

RE: Teachers Union President Whines: My Yearly Salary Is Only $369,000…
Are those bi-weekly union dues? That is pretty high.
My union fees went up recently from $8 a check to $22. And that's when I got out of the union. It took some work but I did get out, and I have the same benefits from the union whether I'm in it or not (although I suspect they won't fight for me quite as hard if I did get in trouble for any reason).
The bottom line is you don't need to be in a union IMO if you are a good worker who is careful (because in the case of teachers for example, it's not that hard for a student or parent to set you up for failure). It's only the lazy, bad workers who need the union to be bailing them out.
And I honestly don't feel that unions help workers get that much more money. I bet you many employers would be happy to pay their employees more if their unions were dissolved altogether.

This also applies to teachers on suspension for alleged misconduct, like New York City's Rubber Rooms.

Teacher pay has steadily risen over the last decade. I doubt any teachers care how much she makes. The end justifies the means for just about every one. Teachers are no different.

So .. if we're going to fix pay inequality.. does that mean we have to raise every teacher's payraise theN?

Nope, like most jobs, you base pay off of performance. Good teachers makes more, poor teachers make less and terrible teachers get out of teaching creating more $$ in the pool for great and good teachers. Second, take some of those admin salaries and actually use it to help pay teachers. Of course, all of that will absolutely piss off any union.
