Wow. What does an SEC win get you with these people?
I feel better about App's ranking now. That site is a joke.

I can't speak for the site's validity. I thought the Florida win would bump them up a few rankings.
However, you can't cherry-pick. You can't say they beat Florida and forget they lost to Wofford, Samford, Appalachian State, and Furman. That's not how football works. Add in that in one of those losses they got waxed 38-14 by a 4-win Appalachian State, the Florida game begins to look like a down year gator team brought their D- game, didn't take them seriously, and Georgia Southern brought their A++ game and won by 6.
It was a great win for GSU and the SBC, but the big games Troy has won I was never foolish enough to think we were on equal footing, as if they brought the same game to us as they brought to their SEC/BIG 12 opponents.

There's a different way of looking at it. I think you should want the tough schedule so you grow.
Lets face it, even if you guys have a good year, you aren't really bowl eligible anyway.
To hear you talk about the level of talent we have (even though you've never watched an App game) any mix of the SBC would be too much for us to handle. Sounds like double talk to me.
Isn't there an exclusion should a transitional team have 6 bowl eligible wins and no other FBS program has 6 wins they could get invited? I'm certainly not predicting that however, I'd say 5-7 would be a good year.

I'm not really worried about where we rank on this list. They could have listed us last for all I care. We have a lot of work to do. Plain and simple. But if our team wants to change that ranking, they need to win. That's it.

The year they did that the NCAA projected that they did not have enough to meet the bowl requirements because Penn State and some others were not eligible.
They knew it was waived, if needed, before the season began.

Granted, but 124 is too low for a team coming off an SEC win. I'm sorry.

I think so too, but the win was never going to vault them into the 60's or 70's.

South Alabama lost to a #21 FCS ranked Southern Utah.
5 of App's loses came by way of:
#8 Montana
#19 Samford
#22 Furman
#23 Chattanooga
#24 Charleston Southern
I think this proves your point though that you can't really base a teams strength off of 1 game. However I think theres a chance that USA loses at least 2 of the 5 games above.
We will all see how this plays in a few months once we finally get on the field!

How many players will App have this year that have played in a college football game? Looking at the roster, you guys seem to be a really young team this year.

No problem. We bought a book. Called, "Football For Dummies".
It has big color pictures.

By my count, we have 52 guys that have seen game action. I believe the reason it looks so young is because only three of our freshman class from last year weren't redshirted, so they're all still listed as freshman.

One thing you have to understand is that the difference in quality between being in the 100-110 range and 127 is minute. Considering all the factors this is a complete crap shoot and the best you can do until you get near the top is do very broad tiers, much broader than the ten you seem to be thinking.

Not likely. There's a lot that happened after that game with the emergence of a true starting quarterback. The Jags went from losing on a last second field goal to handing Tulane their only home loss (excluding the New Orleans Bowl) of the year the next week, and arguably playing the best football in the league at year's end.
