RE: Missouri bill to nullify virtually all federal gun control
That is the word used in the title of this thread. "Nullify".

Those states outlawed slavery long before the Civil War.
You said: I consider any slave state a Southern State.. These states as part of the original 13 began slavery in America. After the Revolutionary War, they began to slowly emancipate them, not eradicate, but it was up to the people what to do. After cotton boomed in the south and manufacturing boomed up north, the Northern states didn't need slavery.. However, the Emancipation Proclamation wasn't just for the Southern States.. It was for all of the United States.
You know for a history teacher you don't know much about history.
You didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. You simply took what I first said literally.
You guys do a lot of that.
You never said any of that.. You said and I quote: Any slave state is a southern state.. Guess what Genius, all states at one point prior to the Civil War owned slaves. I'm point out your errors, but you don't like to take responsibilities for your errors. You guys do that a lot.

Let's look at this from a different perspective. Several union states (and DC) continued slavery during the Civil War and even after the Emancipation Proclamation (which only freed slaves in states actively in rebellion -- ironically, TN had already lost and was not actively in rebellion). Slavery was not universally abolished until the passage of the 13th Amendment.
So, I wonder if Fit considers these Union states that maintained slavery as part of the South, or maybe he just spoke without enough thought on the subject.

Thoughtless, mindless, mind-numbing, take your pick, all apply.

RE: Missouri bill to nullify virtually all federal gun control
Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation specifically only freed slaves in areas of the Confederacy that weren't under Union control as of January 1st 1863. The few Union States that had slaves kept them after the Emancipation Proclamation came into effect and areas of the Confederates States that had Slaves and were firmly under Union control were allowed to keep them.

I just love it when a Southern state plays the nullify card. It makes for a good teaching moment for my students.
Eventually these states will be a separate country. Do you teach them about that?

Fit, I know I'm a bit late to the party here... but did you really just write the above? So we're not supposed to take what you said as what you said?
