Link to Zerohedge Story

They seized government buildings, scheduled a referendum, and requested Russian troops come protect them as peace-keeping forces. It's all coming around again.

So do we send in Patton's 3rd?

Honestly what can we do about it? What are you willing to sacrifice?

Personally, I'd do nothing, it's not our conflict. I wouldn't bother with sanctions. It's for Europe to handle.

RE: Crimea 2.0: Donetsk Activists Declare Independence from Kiev
The issue is that Donetsk might actually vote a referendum down. 60 percent of the province is Ukrainian (but Russian speaking). Crimea was 20 percent Ukrainian. Every province in Eastern Ukraine has a Ukrainian majority. And we're talking about hundreds not thousands of protesters.

We all know the way that this has to end. But so long as Merkel is appeasing, there's little the US can do.

And exactly what is the way that this has to end?
And exactly how do we all know that?

The only way Putin stops is when Europe stands up to him.

We agree there.

And Europe doesn't as long as they need his gas.

So, what does that suggest about solutions?

If Europe doesn't wake up, they will be "taking gas"... in any form Putin wants to lay it on them. I don't mean for heatin' and cookin' and industry either.

What can we little pontificates have as an effect here, however?

Makes you feel a bit unappreciated. I hope the snoopin' watch dogs are reading our site.
