Probably for both Cuonzo and DK.
Cuonzo: 10th in SEC coaches salary at $1.3MM a year.
DK got a bump a couple years ago to $665K. (yep)
So, we could hire Cuonzo... bring DK in as his assistant and then go and hire another 650-750k assistant and still not equal what we pay Josh.
Factually, that is true.
He's got one hell of an agent.

2.6 million is a small price to pay for knowing that your coach won't cuss. I know I sure sleep easier because of that fact
does Cuonzo cuss...

This is why I never get upset when people hate on Pastner. I like the guy, but he makes a whole lot of money to be a good recruiter with underachieving results thus far. He played the game like any other coach to get his raises, so he can take the heat when he doesn't earn it.

his sarcasm completely neglects the fact that pastner has made the NCAAs four straight years (just one shy of our longest stint). But that's irrelevant to folks with agendas...

Last time UMASS beat a team with a winning record was exactly one month ago. No business being a 6

the tournament committee really did a bad job this year. Tons of head scratching seedings.

Easy path for a #11 seed.
Mercer sure not a push over. Still an easier path than Tigers.

I don't care who the Coach is, just going to the Tourney every year doesn't mean squat if you can't advance.. That wouldn't be a record I would be proud of if after this year he is 1-4.. To advance 1 time out of 4 is not something that if I was Josh would make me all giddy.. Now he could change that starting tonight of course.. But for people to just be happy to make the Tourney is beyond comprehension.. I'm not bashing I'm just not understanding the rationale behind this thinking..If we do lose tonight it won't make me feel any better knowing we made the Tourney 4 straight years-whoopitydooo:(

Did anyone think for a second that if another school won- that instead of noting that and congratulating them- that it would not be used to bash Memphis and Pastner?
Congratulations!!
Try...and enjoy the game tonight.
Memphis is playing.
Or- select from one of many other teams that have done well- after they have done well- while ignoring teams that have not done well- to pre emptively piss on the parade.

When you start paying his salary...then you earn the right to criticize him....that is my philosophy.
Like I tell my wife...if you are not going to DO something that you are complaining about...you lose the right to kvetch about it.

Disagree. If you buy season tickets, donate money/time/resources etc to the school and the athletic program, you have more than earned your right to complain about the direction of the program.
That paying his salary line is such a cop out.

I guess everyone forgets that truthfully, we should have advanced the yr. we played Az.. Yes, of course I knw that your argument would be, well we didn't, but part of coaching is having your team in a position to win, and we were in a position to win that game. The only reason that we didn't is because a foul was not called on the Williams kid when he blocked Witherspoons shot. I believe that the Tigers would have beaten Tx., had they won that ballgame, and that would have been Coach advancing his team two out of 3 years. Think about it, 1 PLAY would have changed the perception of Coach. We would look pretty stupid complaining about a Coach with that record, but of course, he doesn't have it. All i'm saying is look big picture. If we win tonight, advancing 50% of the time isn't bad, I guarantee you, ALOT of schools wish they could boast that.

UT was playing better than a #11 at the end of the year
Iowa was no where near a #11
UMass a #6......seriously
Mercer took care of business
Can't blame UT.....but they still make me wanna puke!
